So yesterday I had my first u/s. I was a nervous wreck. After having a stillbirth and then an ectopic, I was sure that they would give me bad news. I have a well developed phobia of the u/s room. Anyway, everything was great. The baby measures 4 days ahead (which I believe since I know it was a messed up cycle) and we have a heartbeat! I am so happy and relieved. I can't say that I don't have a 'doomed' feeling anymore, but it is one step closer to finally holding a baby in my arms, and I am trying so hard to concentrate on the here and now.

My due date hasn't been changed yet, but it might be when I see the Dr. I don't see him again until the 19th, but he may want to factor it in for my IPS testing, since dates are so important for that. I hope he does move it up. Every little bit closer makes me feel better!

Yeah even a few days make it seem easier. Are you going to be induced early? You know I just realized you are in Canada from other post, I guess I should look where it says people are from lol.

I will be having a repeat c-section (yay!), so I will probably have the baby a week or so before my due date (when ever that is). I'm hoping to have the baby on December 3rd, but that will be up to my OB.

If I have another I will have a section too. I know some people don't like inductions and I can understand that but I didn't mind at all since it means I never had to go over my due date.
Are you going to find out the sex?

We want to, but it is difficult to do around here. Most hospitals refuse to reveal the sex, which makes me angry because they are my u/s results and I am entitled to them. We plan to pay to have a 3D u/s done around 26 weeks. I will know the sex in time to set-up the nursery and stuff, but it is late enough that we should get a good video. Also, I lost Eva at 24 weeks, so I hope that I will find an 3D u/s around the same time will make me feel a bit better, since I expect that it will be a stressful time for me. Have you ever had a 3D u/s?

No but they look so cool. I am not sure if my hospital had one when I was pregnant the last time. I had a high tech u/s with my 2nd because they suspected heart problems and they could see things as small as 1 mm (i believe if my memory is correct). They just recently started letting the parents know the sex here but I only had the specialist do the u/s and she would always tell if you wanted to know. I think the mom should be told if she wants to know and they can clearly see which it is.
I bet it will be a very stressful time, ugh, just when it should be a happy exciting time eh. I imagine you are having extra visits and u/s and everything?
OT but have you told your work, nosy I know but just curious.

The 'level of monitoring' hasn't been completely decided. They don't know what caused Eva's death, but they also do not have any reason to believe it will reoccur. I think it might be up to me, at least to a degree. I haven't told anyone at work yet. As long as the weather stays cool, I can wear my sweatshirts with the company logo on them, and they hide the fact that I have an elastic band holding my pants together at the button. DH says he thinks I look pregnant, but just because I look pregnant doesn't mean I have to tell. It's not like they are likely to ask, because that would just be rude!

I am glad you are going to have some input in your care. With my 2nd the high risk nurse told me to go to L&D anytime i wanted for monitoring and that the nurses there would complain but to ignore them. I had weekly nst and bi weekly u/s plus 2 docs following me and other medical staff, i liked it and hated it at the same time, weird i know. Was Connor full term?
LOL hopefully they won't ask but you never know
BTW if i am being too nosy please let me know!

Connor was born the day after his due date. At my 37 weeks u/s he measured 8lbs 7oz so my Dr. induced my on my due date because he thought he would be too big. The induction didn't take (I contracted but didn't dilate - how fun is that?) but I was running a fever so they did and emergency c-section. He was 8lbs 13oz, so the u/s was off a bit, but that is still big enough for me to be thankful for the section! I should attach a picture of him after he was born. You aren't being nosy. I could talk about my kids forever.

Ouch sounds like a lot of fun. He was a big boy! Did you have a section with Eva too? Yes attach a pic of him . I am amazed how my kids all looked alike when they were born. I think my 2nd and Jake looked the most alike.

If they are hesitant to tell you the gender, I would suggest you do what I did before I got my 21-week U/S with Roald. I went online and did research about U/S scans and gender. It will give you pics of proven genders from scans and if you study them long enough you will become quite good at finding those 3 lines or that little weiner!

Of course if you're 26 weeks when you get a good U/S it really shouldn't be hard to tell at all if baby cooperates.

I've actually read alot of stories where women have scheduled C-sections because via U/S the size was determined to be large. The baby was usually 1-2 pounds LESS than what was guestimated. I'd personally rather avoid a C-section (because I haven't had one yet and I'm heavy. Lots of doctors tell me it is more difficult to perfomr on heavy women and it can have a longer time to heal and more complications such as really bad infections, etc)

I'm so glad to hear everything is going good!!!

Eva was a vaginal birth (probably the only one I will ever have), and it took me a while to attach a pic because I don't have any on my laptop. The first is an hour after I had him and the second is three days later in the NICU (he was running a fever, so they admitted him).
