Connor has officially been diagnosed with 'moderate autism'. I am in a pretty bad place right now, so I likely won't be around much. I am just very angry and very depressed, and my husband doesn't understand my attitude. I feel like I've lost three children in less than a year, and I don't know how to just pick myself up and move forward. When (if) I find a more positive frame of mind, I will be back. I will be thinking of you all and wishing you well.
Oh honey, I'm so sorry. It's got to be hard when your hopes and dreams for your children's lives fall apart like that. I'm sure once you get things sorted out as far as therapies and stuff and get into a new routine you'll feel better, but for now take all the time you need!
He'll still have a wonderful life, but you know that. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know, okay?
I am so sorry. I understand how angry you must feel. It's so unfair. There is hope though. One of my closest friends has Asperger's Disorder, a type of autism. She was one of my bridesmaids. She is married and leads a totally normal life. You can also google "Temple Grandin", probably one of the most famous autism sufferers, she leads a very normal life and is an autism advocate. I met her on a book tour and she was one of the smartest people I've ever met. The doctors who diagnosed her told her mother that she was a lost cause, but she grew up to lead a normal life.
I treated a few kids with Pervasive Developmental Disorders when I worked at a children's school, if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
