I had to postpone my 3 hour gtt test until Thursday. I'm hoping it all comes back normal.

They have me down as being possible to develop pre-e though. All because of their equipment. Their blood pressure machine is way off on it's readings....I'll get like....151/90....REALLY high for me. If they do it manually, it is more accurate, like 115/62. But, they had to let me sit and talk to a specialist Thurs. too, about how if I have headaches, blurred vision, etc. call them immediately.....

I don't even have any swelling unless I've been up all day, and then it's just mild swelling on my ankles. I think they're going to try to diagnose me with everything this pregnancy. They've even said when we get your 3 hour test back we'll discuss options....like they know I'm going to fail....

Yikes.

Are you overweight? If so the regular size BP cuff will give false high readings, so you should insist that they use the large or extra large cuff when they take your BP.

Did you fully fail the 1 hour test? If you are overweight, even if you didn't fail the one hour they will act like you did just to try to get you diagnosed.

No, I'm not really overweight. I'm pretty small. I've put on 20 pounds with this pregnancy, but that's my fault, food shouldn't taste so good after the morning sickness stage.

I had pre-e with both my pregnancies. I had MAJOR swelling in my legs and hands and face. If you pushed on my leg the dent would stay there for a LONG time. My BP wasn't high either time until it got severe and then it went up to like 200/150 (that was on the lower end of my readings). They always had to use the manual sphygmomanometer to get any reading on me. Those digital ones are crap... honestly. I take BPs a lot on my friends and family and I hate those digital ones.

Also if you urine cultures are coming back clear, you have no headache or loopy feeling or blurred vision, I doubt highly it is pre-e.

Hope everything comes back completely normal! Ask for them to use the manual sphygmomanometer every time!

I hope everything comes back okay. I agree with Beth. From hearing from other people who actually have had pre-e I think you would notice most of the symptoms and would be more aware of having it.

Now, I didn't notice any symptoms with my first. I had them, I just didn't think anything of it. My feet were swollen, but I put it off as I had been up for too long. My head hurt a bit, but I was pregnant and I thought it was making me have headaches now and again. When I made it into the hospital I was spilling protein in my urine like crazy and my head felt like it was going to explode. My BP was upwards of 250/190. My left kidney wasn't functioning at all and my right one was barely there. It was pretty awful. I watched my BP and swelling like a hawk during my next pregnancy.
