Had my level II ultrasound today, which is nervewracking as it is, especially with them taking forever looking at the heart (I suspect they couldn't get the right angle, but it really freaked us out. But we found out we're having a little girl! Devin's getting a little sister! The name we've decided on is Katherine Elizabeth - Kate for short.

As happy as we both are, it's also really hitting us hard. Den's upset.... he was so so excited to be having a little boy, our little Devin, and not only did we lose him but this time we're having a little girl, we may never get the little boy we both longed for (and we may never be able to get pregnant again). At the same time I'm feeling really sad because this was our dream: a little boy, then a little girl, our family would have been complete. But Devin's not here. So it's a sad as well as happy time.

Congrats on your healthy little girl! (They really are a lot of fun). I understand your feelings. When I lost Eli I was so angry because I lost my perfect family, a girl and a boy two years apart.
My husband really wanted a boy but after we had Eva, he fell so in love with her that he was ok if we only had girls. I am sure after some time, the disappointment will be gone and you and Den with be so completely in love with his little girl.
I really want another boy this time but my husband keeps telling me "We did have our little boy" and I'm really trying to embrace that but I know that I am going to be disappointed at first if this one is a girl.

Nat, congratulations on having a little girl! I am very happy for you all!

But I totally get the sad / happy time. Nate and I are done having children. I mean 100%-no-questions-about-it-completely done. And knowing that we'll never have a living son ... well ... that stabs the heart a little each time I think of Noah. Noah and Julia were supposed to complete our family because we weren't planning on having any more children after those two were born.

But Sydney had other plans (lol). She is here for a reason and had Noah been born alive, Sydney would not be here because we'd have been done (at least, telling myself that really REALLY helps me get through the tough times when my heart hurts over missing Noah).

Katherine Elizabeth is a special little girl, for sure. And she's got a special big brother in Devin

Again, congrats to you all

My best friend's little girl is Kathryn Elizabeth, and then call her Katy. It's a beautiful name, and she's a beautiful little girl.

I think even if it was a boy, there would still be some of that. When I found out Erin was a girl...as excited as I was to get that chance to have a little girl, she shows me every day EXACTLY what I'm missing with Cora. Right now she's got her bunny wrapped up in a blanket and she's rocking him to sleep. Cora will never do that. A boy would be doing different things, so it woudn't be so obvious. So either way....it just sucks.

Anyway, congrats again on a healthy girl!

Oh, Nat!! I'm sorry I missed the big announcement! I'm so happy for you!!

I can't begin to understand how that feels...both of our boys' sex was never revealed until their birth. We are in the boat now that if this is a girl, we'll know we were never meant to have a living son, and that hurts.
