One week until my Dr.'s appt!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! The wait is killing me. I feel good and I'm sure everything is ok, but I'm dying to see the heartbeat!!! I haven't been sleeping well and I know it's cause this appt is on the back of my mind.

We haven't told any one except for a couple of friends. We're waiting to see what happens at this appt and then we'll tell family. Either we'll tell right away or we'll wait another couple of weeks. It depends on how the appt goes.

Also, how do you measure fundal height? How do I know it's my uterus? I'm not so sharp when it comes to that stuff. I want to be able to follow that along with how big my belly gets. Also, my uterus is set back, so maybe that makes it harder?

I am sure it is hard waiting for that appt. I hope the time passes quickly.

A tilted uterus will make it more difficult in early pregnancy to feel the fundus. But, it is too early for that now anyway. I can't remember exactly when the uterus comes up out of the pelvic cavity, but I know it isn't for a few more weeks...10-12 I *think. When you can palpate the top of the uterus you can measure it by placing a tape measure at the pubic bone and then measuring from there to the top of the uterus. You should ask your doctor to feel for it and then see if they will let you feel it after them, so you know what to feel for. Keep in mind that it is only a rule of thumb and it is okay for it to be +/- 3 cm and still be normal.

Your uterus feels a bit like a water balloon, but tighter usually. The top of it is the fundus. If you are not a heavyset person (unlike me... I'm quite heavy and couldn't feel mine forever) then often you can feel it earlier, but the tilt will hinder that a bit. I agree with asking your doctor to allow you to feel it after s/he does. That way you'll know for sure what you are feeling for.

I hear you on the wait! I didn't got in till 10 weeks and it seemed like forever...Good luck and i hope you have a great appointment!!!

When I went in at 10 weeks and then again 11 my doctor showed me where my uterus was....It feels a little harder, but I guess I can't really tell...I don't think they messure till your much farther a long....When I was pregnant with Ella he had not messured my fudus yet in that pregnancy...All doctors might be different though....My doctor usually just feels with his hands till farther in pregnancy.

My uterus is tilted as well, my OB didn't start measuring fundal height until after 20 weeks or so, I don't know if it's related.

I totally understand being nervous though!!!
