How long were you advised to wait before TTC again after your loss?

We were told to wait 3 months but we didn't wait that long and actually got pregnant almost exactly 3 months after we lost Eli. My due date is exactly 1 year to the day of Eli's birthday. As soon as I got the ok from the high risk specialist that the CMV (Eli's cause of death) would not be a problem again (as far as she could tell anyway) we started trying. So, we started trying about 1.5 months after we had Eli.

I had hyperemesis throughout my pregnancy, so my doctor told me that I MUST not get pregnant again for 3 months and he'd prefer I wait 6 so that I could get back all I'd lost through the pregnancy (and put me on calcium suppliments among other things). We waited 4, and got pregnant on the 2nd cycle so all in all there were 5 months between delivery and conception.

3 months. I had to get my newly diagnosed diabetes under control first, and though I had that taken care of by 2 months they had me wait the third month anyway. We were pregnant 4 months later. From the standpoint of my emotional stability, waiting actually turned out to be a good thing.

Our doctor wanted me to wait a year before trying again. We waited 2 because we weren't totally sure we wanted to try again because of my history.

Wow, our stories are so similar. Waited, 4 months, got pregnant on the 2nd try, and I had my first u/s with Erin (at 6w3d) on Cora's 6m angelversary.

The doctors told me they weren't going to give me any timeline, that I could start trying again soon as my cycles returned, considering how hard it is to get pregnant. Of course nothing happened and it still took us another bunch of IVF cycles a year later to get pregnant.

I wasn't really given any official timeline, but the doctor mentioned that when I have gone through 2 or 3 consistent cycles we could try again. Bur our issue was more along the lines of uncertainty and fear about whether we should get pregnant again. I got pregnant about 5.5 months after my loss after we were absolutely sure we wanted to do it.

Wasn't told anything. Started trying when I got pp menses at 9 weeks. Conceived Henry on my third cycle of charting at 5 months pp.

The resident doc that delivered me said to wait 1 cylce before trying again. The high risk ob said nothing about it, but her nurse (who mind you I had never previously met) said, "We recommend 2 years between pregnancies...I won't ask you to wait that long, but it should still be several months before you start trying, probably about a year". When I asked her the medical reason for waiting that long she said, "Well, if you get pregnant before your 1st pp period there is a slightly increased risk of miscarriage, other than that there isn't one".

Maybe it's just me, but I really didn't appreciate a nurse that I've never met giving non-medical advice about how long to wait. I did not feel that it was her place to make assumptions about when I'd be emotionally ready to be pregnant again. She didn't even know me.

After both losses we were told to wait at least 3 months. We waited a bit longer after each.

My perinatologist told me that between healthy pregnancies the current recommendation is 18 months between deliveries. That would be 9 months from end of 1st preg. to start of next. But obviously people do have kids closer with no problems...and have kids further apart with many issues....imo its all just a guess and many times when they tell you to wait a cycle or several cycles it is so it is easier for them to date, not always because its *healthier*
