had a scare today

I went for my monthly appointment today at 10wk 4days. I didn't think we'd be able to hear the heartbeat on dopplar yet, but I wasn't sure and I've been having this feeling that something is wrong. I guess it's just my worrying kicked into overdrive. Anyway, the nurse says she's not going to even try to find the hb because it's so early. The doc comes in and tries and tries and can't find it. I'm already in the u/s room because the nurse didn't want to have to move me if they couldn't find it so my OB whips out the wand and starts the u/s. The baby was looking sooooo much bigger than my little initial peanut picture, but I couldn't find the heartbeat. I was preparing for the worst. THEN, my OB says, there it is and puts the dopplar on and it's 174bpm. THE BEST SOUND EVER!!!!! Baby looks really good and is again measuring a few days bigger than my original due date. I go for my NT scan next week so we'll be able to see our gummy bear again

My mom says I worry too much, but I know you girls understand where my thinking comes from and how difficult it is to do this

That happened to me at my 10 week appointment with Kate. I told them they wouldn't find the heartbeat by doppler yet, I told them I'd freak out, but she tried anyways. Didn't find it. I got rushed over for an ultrasound and there she was, fine and alive. But man..... just not fun, not fun at all.

Ugh, those moments are the worst. Glad to hear that baby is doing great though.

I'm sorry for the scare, but yay on the heartbeat! I frightened myself with this baby. I have a doppler and I refused to even check for a hb until I was almost 15 weeks. I got the hb all weekend, and then on the Monday (my birthday) I couldn't find it. I freaked , but the doctor was able to find it. I'm glad everything looks good with the baby!

I have my first appointment tomorrow, at 10 weeks 4 days too

I do NOT want them to try with the doppler! I have never heard it with the doppler even at 12 weeks, not until at least 14 weeks. I will be so worried if they try. I am bringing my hubby with me, and will make him come to all my appointments this time around. I never did that before, but things change :/
