Hello Everyone! My name is Tara and I just joined today. I am 29 years old and had 3 miscarriages last year, with one resulting in a D&C. I was sent to a hematologist and diagnosed with MTHFR, heterogyzous. We have just decided to start trying again and I'm very nervous. I'm looking for anyone that is in or has went through my situation and could possibly give me any insight. The high risk specialist I just spoke to does not believe lovenox is needed. I am currently taking a baby asprin, folgard, prenatal vitamins and progesterone suppositories. We are going to start trying to conceive in August. Any support will be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to "meet" many of you!
Tara

Hi Tara - I have the exact same thing and am TTC again this month. My doctor gave me two options next time I get pregant ( I had 2 m/c last year). The first would be to take baby aspirin everyday and that might work, but we wouldn't know until we try. The second would be Lovenox has a higher chance of working than the baby aspirin but involves taking a shot every day. I haven't decided yet, but am leaning toward doing the shot.
You can ready my history in my blog I just started with my husband, My Sperm Your Egg
You should visit the Trying to conceive after loss board.
Good Luck!

Thanks hun! We also had the option of lovenox as well. But the specialist decided that is wasn't indicated. I guess there are 2 types of heterogyzous you can have, and I only have one. The one i have is the least beign you can have. We will start TTC next month with only the baby asprin. I will let you know what happens. Kepp in touch and let me know what happens with you!

Hi and welcome. Please feel free to join us over at High Risk Pregnancy - JustMommies Message Boards. There are a lot of mommies there with MTHFR. You don't have to be pregnant or high risk to stop in and get some support!

Hi Tara! Welcome to JustMommies! I'm so very sorry for your losses. I would also recommend checking out the high risk pregnancy board or the recurrent miscarriage board. Both of those boards would probably be helpful to you.

According to my paperwork, I am compound heterozygous for MTHFR mutations.
I have had 5 miscarriages and 4 living children and am pregnant again. The doctor wanted me to go on Lovenox, but I refused. She wasn't happy about it, but said okay. I do take baby aspirin and 3mgs of folic acid every day and I am going to be 16 weeks on Wednesday. After seeing the ultrasound at 9 weeks, I decided to go ahead and hire a midwife and deliver at home.
If I can be of any help, PM me or check out my blog (link below).

Hi there! I have compound heterozygous and have had 2 previous losses last year. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and things are going just fine. I had one peri tell me to take the lovenox, and one told me I didn't need to. I started taking it for a few weeks but, decided to stop because of how hard it was for me and that the science behind it does not fully support lovenox one way or another. I am on baby aspirin, foltex, and my prenatal and have had no complications due to MTHFR with this pregnancy.
