Hi Everyone,
I am new here. I am 23 years old and I am an Army Wife. I currently live in Germany and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year now. The military health care system does not work very well. They expect everyone to be healthy and go to them just for preventative medicine. I have a family history of PCOS and I finally got fed up with it and made a complaint higher up in the health care system so I can get some help. I am now seeing a German OB/GYN who is pretty great and his English is pretty good. I am hoping I can get pregnant sometime soon since my husband could deploy again in May. I joined JustMommies so I could be a part of a community who could reassure me that I am not alone. I am looking forward to reading and posting. =)

Hey. I am an Army Wife too. I was trying for 6 months before my husband deployed with no lucky. I talked to my dr about it. She said you have to be trying for a year and then they can run some test mainly blood work to see if you ovulate right and all that but nothing to much more than that cuz the medical sucks. her words. So I am trying to learn all i can about the signs and what not before he gets homes. we both wanna start a family. I wish you luck. I love the fact that there is a website like this were we can learn and share from others. How is Germany?

Amber.

I think you might be just having problems with the healthcare system in Germany. I have several friends who are seeing REs. I have also seen a specialist too. Tricare covers reproductive specialists they just dont cover all the medicines. So I think its the doctors you are seeing not problems with the insurance.

I grew up with a military family and I married into the Army after college at 21.. so, I have had the military health care all my life and despite desperately seeking appointments and help I got nowhere.. In fact, the last said "well, I have no magic bullet for you". I am sure some people get excellent care.. I just have not had much luck with the military.. actually in early December I made an ICE complaint about that doctor and they finally took me seriously and gave me a referral to a German (non-army) doctor and it has been the best experience of my life. Where it usually takes a month to get an appointment, I called and got in in 3 days. He did some blood work and had me come in a week later for more blood work and did an internal ultrasound and verified PCOS and showed me the cysts and started me on treatments and set a follow up for 4 weeks to see how medication works. I am thrilled that I got out of the military health care system for some help. Since my hubby might deploy again in March or April, we are hoping for the best. I feel you Amber. We tried last year for a month and then he got deployed. He got back in March and we have been trying since.. so, almost a year.. but I told doctors a year so they would take me seriously since I knew for sure I had PCOS... and they verified it.
