Hi! I tried to reply to a post, but my comment was deleted. I'm guessing that perhaps this group is exclusive or something I'm not aware of. I apologize for that. It's really sad that my comment was deleted though as it was full of information that would have helped the people in that thread.
Well, here it is agaiHi Dickersons09 and all!
My name is Rebecca and I'm the author of the chalkboard campaign. Also the mother to a 5 year old daughter with autism. Thank you very much for posting our site, I'm grateful! I have read through the thread and some of the links posted.
I have to say, my heart is hurting right now. The one article that was posted as a good "layman's" explanation is something, I, too would have read 6 years ago and latched onto as the truth. There are so, so many untruths and flat out propaganda statements in that article, it is just sad.
I don't have time to reply to what every individual here has said. Plus most of what I would say is posted at our vaccinations page on our site regardingcaroline I urge you all to read through that page, any number of minutes you can devote to it will be some of the best spent minutes for your child's health.
The study by Dr Wakefield is irrelevant to the issue. The mainstream villified him so that they could point toward something to "debunk the myth" that vaccines can cause autism... There are reams and reams of scientific explanations of just how vaccines can and do cause beain encephalopathy (swelling) and neurological damage. They also modify the reactivity of the immune system and are the underlying cause of much of the autoimmunity we are seeing in our children.
I know thousands of mothers who saw their child's "light go out" following vaccinations. Practically everyone who I know with a child who has autism believes that vaccines have played a part and have stopped vaccinating. We read the reasearch. We know what the science says. We have taken the time to look into it.
It's not some sort of rumor on the internet. I wish I could personally speak to each and every one of you and tell you all that I know, help you understand. But obviously my words here will have to be enough. Please visit the site and also vaxtruth or vaccinexchange if you have time.
I know some of you probably think I'm just a crazy parent. But I'm not. I have a graduate degree and I am a mother. I know more than your doctor knows about vaccines... why? read our page and I explain it there.
Thank you again for sharing our page, it's EXACTLY the kind of thing I hoped would happen with it. You have made my day. I hope to infulence the lives of some of your children. I pray that I can.
