Hi I 14 weeks pregnant and will soon be a military spouse in 1 month. I have done as much research as I can on tricare but want to know which one is best? I want to have my child off post at a birthing clinic preferably and am not sure which type of tricare to get and will it cost a crazy amount i will be living in fort lewis. If someone could please explain this to me and if you have any personal experience in fort lewis especially with pregnancy and where to go i would really appreciate!
MTF - Military Treatment Facility The big four all have them at their bases. Us little Coasties have very few bases and the other services do not like to share, which is great when it comes to medical care - totally prefer civilian doctors to military doctors...I was a Navy daughter so I had a lot of experience.
I had a baby in 2012 and not on the military post where we were stationed. I moved back to my home state while my husband was deployed and went to the army facility near my home. I have been using tricare prime the entire time. Even though it limits which doctors I can see, there are no surprises with costs. No co-pays and basically a "free" birth.
