I would gladly do it... But our thing is we would want an infant if we don't have one of our own.

If we are able to get one of our own then we may adopt and older child.

I honestly don't know. I'm with Esmy about an infant. Plus, adoption is so expensive, I think I'd rather pay that money for IVF if I can't get pg. naturally.

Sure. I'll take them any way I can get them. I would want them to be my race and infants though. Also I wouldn't want a baby where the mom hadn't taken care of herself throughout the pregnancy. Adoption isn't as expensive for us though because our church offers a program that is based on a percentage of your income, not that it's cheap. Sometimes I worry about being as attached to the baby or if it would be hard for other reasons, but then I hold someone else's baby and I know it wouldn't be an issue. To me, no matter how you get a baby, it is still yours and it is a blessing, but I can totally understand why someone wouldn't want to. MXdad isn't quite there yet, which is okay, I'm not "there" yet either. He still feels like if we adopt, he is a failure, like he can't make a baby. I am certainly not looking forward to the scrutiny our lives would be under and how you have to open your life for everyone to look at. You can also have someone pick you as the parents and then when the baby arrives they change their mind and keep it, which is understandable, but still painful. Infertility is such a long, humiliating, painful, and grueling process no matter which road you travel down.

I would, but there were two factors holding us back from pursuing that route:

1) I really wanted to be pregnant (I'd like to adopt IN ADDITION to experiencing pregnancy)
2) Cost - we'd already spent 35k on IVF, there was no way we'd be able to afford a private adoption.

We want our own biological children plus 1 or 2 deaf infants/toddlers after we are done having biological babies.
