Hello Ladies,
My name is Katherine and I've poked my nose in and out of here every now and then but I've become addicted to these boards...lol
So here's our story...sorry if it's kinda long......
DH and I have been together about 7 years (this coming March) and shortly after we started TTC. DH knew he had low counts from previous marriage and we just figured it would just take us a while. Well the next three years we didn't prevent it from happening but didn't temp or OPK or anything like that, although DH wasn't forth coming about his condition which is a vericocele so i wasn;t doing alot of researching but have been for the last 2 years. The next year was just super busy, we planned our wedding bought and moved into a new home. The year after that we had a rough patch in our marriage which rolled over the beging of this year but we are now better and closer than ever. So we started to move forward and look into our fertility options and see how bad DH's count was etc.. so his first sample was AWFUL (I wanted to cry) at 400,000 with low motility and morphology but to our suprise the second sample was shockingly higher at 11 million still had low morph but the motility looked good. So the urologist didn't seem eager to look further into DH's vericocele and told us to get a second opinon with an RE. So my PCP wanted me to get my pap and blood done before we moved forward. So we made appt (thank goodness for free consults) and we were told that IVF w/ICSI was our best hope. About a week later my PCP called and informed me the my pap was abnormal (my first ever) and that I was also positive with high-risk HPV (the kind that causes cancer not the worts). So now we have been haulted yet again until further notice. I have a colposcope scheduled for tomorrow and hopefully that will be the end of that. So I'm hoping to get the OB/GYN to schedule for the routine test, HSG, Hysterscopy etc...whatever ones she can do, to make sure I don't have any contributing factors.
Also amidst all this we are hoping to move (across country) in Feb if all goes as plans. We are hoping to get DH in for surgery to repair the vericocele before we go. The IL's are going to help us with any treatments we pursue..yah!!! But all in all it will be a really good move for us.
So I think that just about sums it up, Thanks for taking the time to read my story. Look forward to getting to know all of you Gals better.

Welcome. DH and I are also both 30 and struggling with severe MFI as well (less than TWENTY total sperm in a natural sample). We are going through a testicular biopsy in January to see if the doctors can find more sperm in DH's testicles, and then pursuing IVF w/ICSI & TESE in February.

It sounds like you have a lot going on at once. I hope you find peace in these boards as many of us have on this difficult journey.

Hi Katherine & I'm Brandi, one of your cohosts, and I'm 31 and my DH David is 32. We have been TTC #1 since Oct. 06. Our DHs have something in common besides their first names, because mine had a varicocele too. He had surgery in June to fix the issue, and we are waiting to have a repeat SA to see how much the surgery affected it. (It takes 92 days for new spermies to form). I would definitely have DH get the surgery done before you attempt IVF, because once he has the surgery done, you might not need it, or you might be able to go with IUI. Our insurance covered DH's surgery, so I would definitely find out if yours does. (I don't know how the urologist coded it) I wish you the best of luck & hope you enjoy being here with such wonderful & knowledgeable ladies!!

Hello! Sorry for the late welcome.. I had been laying low lately.
DH and I have been TTC over 2 years plus 1 year NTNP before TTC.. so total of 3 years of wanting to have a baby and NADA. Last Sept we found out DH has low sperm... 8.2 mil with NO motility.
DH is on Vit c and E to improve the counts. We plan to do repeated SA in Feb or so depending on our finances.

good luck to you!!!
