Hi Girls! I've been gone for a few months, trying to give myself a break and heal from my Laporoscopy that I had last month. At our last dr apt, they went over my DH's bloodwork that showed his extremely low testosterone levels and elevated FSH. They said that was the cause of his low sperm count/quality. They want us to try a 6 week round of injectable HSG, and oral letrozole. Has anyone heard of this or know anything about it??? Thanks!

I have not, but wanted to say good luck! Do they know why his hormone levels are off?

Hi Alisa, I wanted to say I'm Brandi, one of the co-hosts. I'm sorry I don't have the answer to your question, so I'm no help. I'm wondering the same thing as Juli. Did the docs tell y'all a reason why DH's hormones are off? I hope stick around and we get to know you better!

Lurker here.. My husband was having a hard time keeping an erection and he went to a urologist who did blood work and found out he had borderline low testosterone. The urologist said not to do a SA now because it would probably show low sperm count and quality. He applies a testosterone gel called testim every morning to his shoulder. He is supposed to do it for 90 days and come in for a SA. He had bloodwork done after 30 days that showed an significant increase in his testosterone levels. I do not remember the exact numbers but the dr. was very pleased. I might also add that he no longer has any trouble getting or keeping an erection. If your husband is going to be using the gel form be very careful that you do not touch the area when it is still wet and that after he applies it he washes his hands. The dr. said that even a low amount of testosterone gel could cause my hormone levels to go wacky.

Synthetics (like Testim, Androderm, Androgel, etc...) to raise testosterone do do as such, and very successfully I might add. But they can also cause a sperm count of Zero. That's the primary issue the hubby and I are dealing with right now.

So, yes, they cause Testosterone levels to raise, but they also kind of defeat the purpose if the reason you're raising said levels is to aide in conception. Vicious cycle sometimes, isn't it...
