So yesterday was my first day on Clomid (CD 5-9). My doctor gave them to me to give my eggs a boost since DH swimmers are not very good. I usually ovulate around CD 11-12 (sometimes even on CD10). My question is, will Clomid effect when I ovulate? Can I expect to O later than normal?

It really depends on the individual. Most women o on the same day or later. My o date did not change when I was on Clomid. You should temp or use OPKs to make sure you know when you're getting close, although be careful, because you can get false +s with OPKs when you're on Clomid. Also, I've never heard of Clomid being prescribed for male fertility issues, unless it's being prescribed for the male. Do you know why your doctor thinks putting you on Clomid will help make your DH's sperm better/move faster?

My doctor said that he was giving me Clomid so I would produce more and bigger eggs to give the very few swimmers that survive the wash for the IUI better targets. ???? Am I the only one?

For our two failed IUI's I took Clomid 50MG from CD 5-9. We did it so I would O earlier (I O really late on my own). The first time I had 5 follicles and the second time I had 3 follicles. We also did a trigger shot so we knew exactly when I O'd so the IUI could be timed correctly.

It depends on your body whether it will make you O later or earlier. For IUI's your doc should be monitoring you via U/S to know when to time the IUI (check uterine lining and follicle size/amount). OPK's aren't very reliable on Clomid (it causes false positives).

yeah, if you're doing IUI, ditto to what April said. Your doctor should be monitoring you to determine the actual ovulation date. As far as the "better target" theory, I've never heard of that, but that's not to say it's not valid. If that's what your doctor thinks will work, I'm sure he has a reason! good luck and keep us posted!
