I would never in a million years donate money but I would donate diapers or whatever because the poor babies are innocent in this whole fiasco.

Heather. I would never ever ever give the heifer money! I just want to wrap my hands around her throat and choke her! And then we could all have one of her babies

Wait, which part makes you sick, Brandi? That she did that and has so many kids or that she's getting death threats because of it?

I want to know why I am the one paying a FORTUNE for infertility treatments? Who paid for hers?

Well, hmmm, lets see. The part about her already having 6 kids and being on gov. assistance, but using the money her kids get for disability to fund her IVF, the part about her getting pg with 8 babies, the part about an unscrupulous dr. implanting that many, or even approving her for IVF. The part about her getting so much publicity because she is a selfish moron. I don't condone the death threats of course, but I understand why some people feel that strongly. Does that clear up matters for you enough?

Yes, mostly. Although I really feel that most people vastly overestimate the amount of government assistance people on welfare and food stamps get. This article from the LA times says that "If Suleman's disabled children received the maximum payment, she would get nearly $2,900 a month in state and federal assistance, including the food stamps." I can't see how you could raise 6 kids on that and still easily afford the $10K for IVF. I just don't think the assistance explains where she got that money.

About the doctor being unethical to implant that many embryos, absolutely. I think that s/he is very lucky none of those babies died and cramming that many into one uterus risks the lives of every baby in there.

I don't know why anyone feels strongly enough about this to send her death threats. I think that is equally as messed-up as the amount of publicity she is getting over this, and one wouldn't happen without the other. I do think she'd be getting publicity whether she wanted or not, because of the rubbernecking quality this brings out in everyone.

I have to admit I have been a little obsessed with this so I just wanted to add to the topic. Not sure how the public got this info but she paid for it with the cash she got from being hurt on the job from a previous employer...it was like over 100k. She said in an interview that she saved because she knew that she wanted a large family.

As a social worker I know that the assistance is not much but it is doable. I worked with immigrants and refugees who raised large families on a lot less than this. It all depends on your measurement of quality of life. With that amount per month I could not forsee raising 2 on that but everyones different. I wish her all the best and hope that she can deal with so many kids with what it looks will have a lot of special needs.
