as positive as I tried to keep being, I kind of expected the news and it was as expected, there were again no sperm in Tony's sample that I dropped off with the fertility specialist. Even with expecting it, it was not what I wanted to hear, but I'm doing okay. After the doctor was so straight forward with us last week that our chances were very slim, I've been expecting this news. It's still so hard knowing, but I know that we'll be okay. Whatever steps we need to take, we will have a child/children of our own to love regardless whether they be biologically from the both of us. Now, I just need to tell Tony and don't want to do this over the phone or via text. It was hard not to tell him on the phone a short while ago when he called but I feel it's better to wait. He's at the evening job again tonight, but thinks it won't do until 11:00 so hopefully he'll be home earlier then last night.

So, I'm not sure yet what our next steps will be. The nurse also said the urologist would go over our options with us at our appointment next Wednesday. So, we wait another week.

Wish me luck on telling him . . . . Thanks, ladies!!!

Becky. I'm so sorry that you didn't get better results. But don't give up yet! Wait to see what the urologist says! It could be fixable. And even IVF is still possible, since they can do a biopsy and use those sperm, if that is the path that y'all want to take. I'll keep y'all in my thoughts/prayers.

I think it's a good idea to tell DH in person. I told my DH at work - bad idea. More for me because I was a mess, he took it very well all things considered. I know this is soooo hard but you are incredibly strong and have a great attitude about the situation. I am always here for you if you want to talk!!!

I was in that same situation too. I found out on the phone and talked to DH shortly after and couldn't tell him..it's so hard to say something like that over the phone. I waited until later that afternoon and told him in person...Just try to hang in there hun! Wait and see what options your options are...KUP!!!!

Thanks, girls! DH got home around 7:00 so I told him then, and he was okay with it. Like me, he expected it. Last week was the initial shock of finding out about the extra chromosome, so this was a little easier. Still hard, but easier if that makes any sense. His Mom also was okay. We meet with the urologist next Wednesday, and have to schedule an appointment with the fertility specialist after that to go over our plans. We're leaning towards using donor sperm, but need to see what our options will be for that. With my own fertility problems, even before learning of DH's, the doctors were talking IUI with injectibles, or more likely IVF as the best chance. Not sure which will be the best option now. It's alot to consider.

With the insurance, I'm going to call them today to see if they have any exceptions to their clause of not covering fertility treatments using donor eggs or sperm. With DH not physically being able to produce any sperm, maybe they can make an exception. It would be so nice to have some of this covered by the insurance. So, we'll see what they say. I feel we have nothing to lose by asking.

and Brandi, these results are from the testicular biopsy and no sperm was found so IVF with Tony's sperm is not going to be an option now.

So, that's where we're at. I'll keep you all updated.
