So, up until March 1st, our firm had United Healthcare. They didn't cover any fertility treatments but did cover the cost of my progestrone tests (well, actually I paid $11.00) and all of my pregnancy tests.

On March 1st, our firm switched to Humana, and they DON'T cover any fertility treatments including lab work... I just got a bill for my progestrone test... $98 and I went online and my pregnancy test/progestrone test for the 9th is going to be almost $300.

I called my drs office to see what was up and they said, opps, we should have told you, you may have this problem since we have dealt with that before but since the Finance girl was never there when I was, they didn't realize that I didn't know. Its not thier fault that I have a CRAPPY INSURANCE COMPANY!! Michelle, told me that they sometimes give private pay discounts so I should ask the lab for that.. I called today and no discounts cuz I technically have insurance.

I am so pissed! Now I have to work with the lab to set up a payment plan cuz there is no way I am going to fork out another $400 at the drop of a hat... what am I a bank! ..... this is such BS!

Ok, so your progesterone test was $98 and your pregnancy/progesterone is going to be $300????!! So, basically $200 for a preg. test?? ***?? I'm so sorry that they are being turds! There is no way it costs that much! I'd call the lab again, give them a piece of my mind, and tell them that you don't have lab insurance, so that's not insurance, so they'd better give you the discount!
