Hi ladies!

My name is Brandi. I'm new here on JM. My husband and I have been TTC #1 for 10 months now. Last month we finally had DH do an SA and it came back that there were ZERO spem in the sample. To say we were devastated is an understatement. DH got referred to a urologist. On his first visit he was sent for some BW and told to do another SA. The doctor did a physical check and said that all the necessary parts seemed to be there. So the follow up appointment with the urologist is tomorrow. First he's going to have an u/s done and then meet with the doctor to go over all the test results. I just keep hoping that the first test was wrong or messed up. I mean, to have no sperm at all just seems impossible. I'm also hoping that maybe it's just a hormonoal problem that can be fixed with medicine. I really want to be able to have a child unassissted. I don't know if we can afford IVF. Has anyone had a similar experience with your DH's results showing zero sperm? If so what was the cause? Thanks ladies.

Welcome Brandi!! I'm Brandi, one your co-hosts, along with Esmy. I'm sorry that you and DH have gotten such bad results from a SA. I really hope that they can find what is causing the issue, if in fact there aren't any sperm in his semen. I know that there have been some ladies here with the same issue, so I hope that they chime in! Please feel free to jump in and start chatting away! We have some wonderful ladies here, and some wonderful success stories, so don't give up hope!

Hello another Brandi

My DH's SA was 8.2 million with no motility. We were shocked to find out. We will be doing another SA later.

I encourage you to do another SA and find out if there's same result..if so...IVF with TESE would be possible. Your doctor should know how to explain to help you with answers.

Hi, Brandi & I'm Becky, DH is Tony. I'm one of the ladies here who's DH had no sperm in his S/As. The lack of sperm could be from different factors, and I'm glad you are working with a urologist. I hope the test results come back soon so you'll have some answers. For us, we found out that my DH was born with a genetic problem (extra chromosome) and even when the docs went looking for sperm in the testicles there weren't any. We've decided that we will be using donor sperm.
