Hi, ladies!

I'm lurking from the Jan 08 PR but have a question I think you all would know the answer to...

We are getting an SA done tomorrow. We have 3 clinics in our area. 2 are further away, and would require deposit there at the clinic, 1 is close enough where the sample could be "collected" at home and brought in.

Here's the dilemma:
The 2 that are further away say abstain 48 hours (no more than 5 days) and the 1 that is closest says abstain 72 hours (no more than 5 days).

Well, it won't be 72 hours, but it will be at least 48 hours... so my question is...

Is this a lab preference or do they test against different standards? I would LOVE to go to the closer one, but we won't hit the 72 hour mark. Would the results be different there because of their cut off mark than it will if we go to one of the further labs?

I am torn. DH won't do it if he has to go to the clinic, and we are leaving WEdnesday EARLY before anything is open for a 14 hour drive to see family.

What would you do?

Sorry, don't know the answer, my DH usually just gets answers from his Urologist!

Hope someone else knows the answers...

I know that most clinics have a little different testing method, or policies. I'm not sure what the difference in 2 or 3 days will make. We too just go with the dr.'s recommendation on what to do, and how long to abstain.

Good Luck with the SA!
