Hi all,
I am new to this board. My name is Heather. I am 33 and teach Pre-Kindergarten in NC. My husband is 38 and is a graphic designer. My husband is getting tested tomorrow for sperm quality. He had a kidney transplant 20 years ago and has been on the anti rejection med cyclosporine for that entire time. I was doing some research to see why we have not been able to conceive for the 12 months we have been trying. When I ran a search for cyclosporine guess what popped up? It is known to cause infertility in males. So after the long talk with the husband he is going. I hope that is not the cause. We really want to have a child, our child. We were hoping that we could get pregnant this year. His mother who gave him the kidney is very sick with cancer. We wanted to give her some good news to help keep her spirits up. Has anyone had any experience with cyclosporine or any other anti rejection meds??

:hi: Heather and welcome! My name is Brandi, and I am one of your co-hosts. I'm sorry I haven't been quicker to answer your post, I have been MIA for a while due to personal issues.

I'm sorry to hear about yours & DH's struggles. I definitely feel your frustration on not getting pregnant. I'm sorry that I don't have any information on meds and kidney transplants for you I really hope that the meds haven't affected his fertility. I know that it can take a perfectly healthy couple 12 months to get pregnant, so I'm hoping that y'all are just on the longer time end of the spectrum

This board is small, but feel free to jump right on in! We've had several successes since it was formed in Oct, so even if you do face male fertility issues, don't give up hope! KUP on your DH's SA!!! Good Luck!!
