Sorry I haven't posted here in awhile..one we started our IVF treatment I mainly posted on that board. I just thought I would update everyone here. I am sad to say we did a round of IVF w/ TESE (testicular epididemis sperm extraction) unfortunatly I stimulated very well but they were unable to find any sperm from my husband so we will not be able to have a biological child of our own. They did go ahead with my egg retreival so I have 19 frozen eggs but nothing to do with them unless they can come up with something new which I know they are coming up with new things all the time. Then after all that good news I ended up with a severe case of OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome) and ended up in the hospital for 3 1/2 days and had to have a drain put in my side to drain off 3 liters of fluid in my belly. So needless to say this has been a devistating thing for us to not only find out we can never have a child of our own but to end up with the complications that we did. Anyway I just wanted to let everyone on this board know how things turned out for us and just wish everyone good luck. I know it's a long hard road...ours has been 10 yrs in the making. Well 10 1/2 yrs of marriage but 8 1/2 off bcp's and just assuming things would happen normally like it seems to for everyone else in the world. I'm glad there are placed like this that we can all go to to know that we are not alone. Good luck to everyone I'll be lurking around still as we try to decide our next plan. I think after we let life return to normal for a little bit we may look into adopting from either Russia or Ukraine...
Good luck everyone!!
Thanks for the update! I was wondering how things were going with you. I'm so sorry they were unable to find any sperm in your DH. We too are dealing with that, and it isn't easy. I think my DH handled it much better then I did, and we ended up taking several months off before deciding on our next steps. Our choice is to try with donor sperm. I realize that donor sperm isn't the choice for every couple, but we discussed this alot and even met with a social worker (required by the RE) and we feel this is the best choice for us. We're hoping to proceed this next cycle, starting out with IUIs. I wish you the very best & please keep us posted on how you are doing.
I'm so sorry that they were unable to find any sperm in your husband's sample I wish you and your DH the best of luck in deciding what the best next step for you guys will be KUP!
