Hi Ladies
I hope ye don't mind me posting on this site but I have a question and I hope someone here can help me with it.

I was wondering has anyone on this board heard of delayed ejaculation and how it can effect ttc.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Becks, I was just surfing the boards and saw this in the new posts... I don't know if this is what my dh has but anyway I'll tell you about it. he has no trouble getting and maintaining an erection, but he cannot ejaculate from intercourse alone. So when TTC, we have sex, but then he pulls out and has to manually stimulate himself to the point of ejaculation and then we erm... re-insert for ejaculation!!! It's something he's always had and doesn't bother us (except when TTC I have to be aware of when I'm ovulating so we make the effort to reinsert.....). But basically I think there would be no chance of us conceiving from intercourse alone, ie. without that extra manual stimulation.

Hi, Becks! It sounds like Lenore may be having a similar situation to yours. Unfortunately I don't know much about it, but it gives me hope to see Lenore's 2 DS and that is it possible to get pg with a little extra "work". Or you could possibly try home inseminations or IUI with the doctor? Good luck sweetie!!!

and of course you are welcome to post here! We're a small group and have more lurkers then posters, but we'll do our best to answer any questions.

OMG Lenore Thank you for posting and of course becky.
Lenore that is the same with us. Only DH can only finish on his back so (sory TMI ) I have to try and go on top just when he's about to finish only thing is sometimes it doesn't work and he doesn't get in on time. I know being on top isn't the best way to TTC but it';s the only way for us I try and turn over without too much dripping out ( again sorry TMI ) and lie on my back fot half hour or more but so far it's just not working. We were trying for about 9 months before I found JM and now we're onto cycle 4 of charting.
It makes me feel better that I'm not my own and someone else is going through this and the fact the you have 2 kids really makes be think we just might be able to get our BFP but and the moment I just can't seem to figure out how...

Becks I'm mostly the same - dh can 'finish' in other positions but mostly it seems to be that he lies on his back and I just sort of... hover... and try to keep myself stimulated as obviously with him manually stimulating himself he gets dry, so if I were dry too...well re-insertion would just not work!... he would DIE if he knew I was posting about this!!! As for my boys, we conceived our eldest after 4 cycles, our 2nd eldest after 2 cycles and our 3rd pregnancy (which ended in m/c in March) on our first cycle ttc. SO, don't be deterred by the issue, other than that you really do need to be aware of ovulation and make that extra effort!!! as long as he's had his sperm count checked and that's alright, I'm sure it will be fine!!

Also I don't know much about home insemination but like Becky suggested, perhaps that is an option if there are more 'misses' than 'hits'... anything is worth a try right! Maybe you could do some googling or keep asking questions on JM about how best to do it.
and good luck and I'll keep checking in here, or PM me if you've got any other questions - I'm happy to help if I can!

PS. It's not all smooth sailing for us either - the other night he wasn't sure if he actually did ejaculate..like he said the feeling was like he would have but he just wasn't sure.. it is hard when you lose momentum between him saying yes and trying to re-insert quickly...!!! I am laughing now but just because I'm thinking about all the other people who might read this... but if it helps you then that's all that counts!!

Oh My God that is the same for us I just hover And ya if DH knew I was posting this he'd die.
It is hard to keep things going when all I can do is wait and try tio keep myself ready for when he's ready and it's so heart breaking when it doesn't work b/c we really try around O time I know DH feels bad and I don't know what to say to make him feel better.
I really thought we were the only one's with this problem and I really didn't know how to go about asking for advice I've wrote this post about 10 times but never sent it. I'm really glad did now b/c I see you have your kids so I know we an get there it'll just take alot of extra work.
I was thinking of trying Home Insemination this cycle here is the link.
At-Home Insemination Instructions - Fertility Plus
What do you think?
Also I have my 1st appointment with the ob/gyn on the 11th of Aug I'm going to tell her about DH's problem and see if she thinks IUI might work.
DH has a S/A done a few weeks ago it came back normal. I'd suppose I'm just getting frustrated b/c we've been trying for our 1st for over a year now.

I know what you mean about other people reading this but you'd never know there might be more out there going through the same thing but have just never told anyone so we might be getting this problem oput in the open.
Thank you again I don't feel alone in our journey now.

I think the home insemination sounds like a good option! If he can only ejaculate on his back, then you can just use a cup to gather the semen and go from there - worth a shot! Are you using OPKs? Just from reading that article, sounds like they might help time the home insemination. And yes, definitely mention it to your ob/gyn too. I have never seen it as too much of an obstacle because we've never had a problem conceiving (ooh I almost don't want to say that because I don't want to jinx myself this time round), but it would be good to get a professional's advice.

It would be very frustrating to have been trying for over a year. On the positive side, it's great that your dh's S/A came back normal - you'll get there!!
