SA Timing

DH is going to do a SA sometime next wk. The instructions we got said no activity for at least 48hrs prior to providing the sample. I've also read info saying not to go without BD more than 3-4 days prior to giving the sample either . Anyone with experience that can help me ?? How long did it take to get your results back ?? Thanks

Our doc said to abstain from BD for at least 2 days (48 hours) and no more then 4/5 days. With the 1st one my DH did, he abstained 2 days. The 2nd one was 3 or 4. We were working with the RE's office and got the results back immediately. I know other ladies working with labs, it's taken several days for the results. Hopefully you'll get yours back quickly. DH has only done one so far, but we went 3 days w/o BD for that one. The next one at a fertility center said 2-5 days, so we'll prob do 3-4 days. That seems like it should be a happy medium lol! It only took the lab one business day to get the results to my dr. however *my* doctor is on sick leave, so the office is really busy and I had to wait 2 more days for the other doctor to read the results. Now that the first result was zero, the doctor is working closer with us and told us to call the next day that he would get the results for us the next day even if he has to call the fertility center to get them himself. We abstained from sex for several days then we did the SA at home and brought it to Quest lab. I put the cup in between my breasts to keep it warm ( I was told do that!

) .. Suck part was we did the SA on friday... and I got the results on monday.. they said they already had result on friday evening on same day but I didn't know. a weekend of waiting was forever!

Aaron, I did this too with one of DH's s/a.

(The other one he did at the RE's office.) All I kept thinking, was hope we don't get stopped by the cops for anything. Can you imagine trying to explain what the cup was?

The different labs do seem to vary on when they get the results, and the wait can seem like forever. I hope yours gets back to you fast. Good luck!!!!

That was me too!!! the first one...the volume was so low....I just knew that it couldn't be good. I cried when I took it out of my sweater. I thought that what little was in there had evaporated. It honestly looked like the cup was EMPTY. That's a result of "Patient spilled portion of ejaculate" He managed to get half of it on the floor.....LOL
