I know several of us have our insurance vents, and don't have much coverage for fertility treatments. But I'm curious as to what (if anything) is covered for you ladies?
With us, thankfully the prescription plan is separate from the insurance plan, so all my prescriptions have been covered. My co-pays have been @ $5.00 for the HCG injection, as well as the clomid, progesterone & estrogen. Everything else (doctor's visits, u/s, b/w, etc) though is denied by the insurance company, up until I have my pregnancy confirmed. Then it's covered 100%.

I'm calling today to find out what will be covered with IVF, I read the book and infertility is covered, but it's not very specific on how much, what, etc. I am really thinking IVF is the way we will have to go, so I want to find out now if we need to start saving up for IVF or if it'll be manageable with insurance. I'll update when I find out what all will be covered by my insurance.

My Dh is in the military and they will cover diagnosis and anything that stops you from becoming pregnant..like i had surgery to remove a septum in my uterus...but they dont cover ivf or iui...however i did find out last week that they will cover most of the medications..that was a huge help..i think im paying for follistim..which is like 1400 alone!! so ya..we still have to pay a good penny but luckily our RE is retired military and is giving us a military discount!!

Just an FYI w/ Tricare - there are MTF's that DO over IUI (completely covered) and a few that offer IVF for drastically reduced prices - We had ours done at Walter Reed (with ICSI and meds included) and paid 5700$

well see that was the problem..we were referred to wilford hall it was gonna be 4500...well that was a huge thing!! we waited and waited and then they told us put in your referral..well we did..they said they didnt get it...and for me to fax it...well i did when i called to see if they recieved it..they said we are only accepting tricare south right now! so i was furious! so then i called the naval hospital in san diego, they told me that wilford hall is sending over everyone they cant take! so we decided to just go with our RE we were seeing. Then also if i was to go to Wilford Hall..it could be about a 2 year wait! they have some of the best success rates! So we just decided to go with our current RE and not mess with it..plus all together we arent paying but 4 grand more with meds and everything! but thanks anyway!

Well, if we were to do IUI it would be covered. No meds are covered. Testing during an infertility cycle IS COVERED! Yay! That's saving us about $2500. IVF of course, is NOT COVERED.

Nothing is covered in my lousy insurance thru the hospital where I work. When I had my appt. with my doc a few wks ago, she said she would be able to code some of it as "painful bleeding" I guess so that maybe a few pennies will be covered. I am bracing myself for the worst. I just got my bill to see her ( a 15min conversation for her to tell me I need bloodwork/DH needs SA) and that was $189 but I owe $100 ( I guess because she's in network). I know the SA is another $100 but have no clue how much my bloodwork will cost tomorrow. I hate to say this but a lot of my hesitancy has to do with how much it costs...that part really sucks !

Jessie - Walter Reed and Womack both don't have any wait times- I know Walter Reed has one of the highest success rates in the country. But they are also both on the east coast - so that's probably not very convenient for you. Good luck with your IVF - only a little while longer until ya'll start right?

Which Medical Facility has IVF with PDG? I was told one does but can't remember which one. Our RE wanted to refer us to Wilford Hall because she's worked with them before but she knows they can't do the PDG there.

I just got the letter from my insurance company and I can't believe the coverage!! I am soooo happy with my insurance company today! LOL you don't get to say that often.
It starts out, infertility- diagnosis, treatment and assistive reproduction technology are covered the same as any other illness or condition under the members health care benefit plan (YAY ) The only thing not covered would be the freezing and storage of eggs, sperm or embyo's. They pay 90% of the costs, I have a $1500 deductible per benefit period and a $1000 out of pocket max per benefit. So, I think that means per procedure we'd have to pay $1000 max regardless of where we are with the deductible, not sure on that though? and a $5 million lifetime max! So I am now looking forward to anything and everything it takes to make us a baby!!

I am so thankful that my insurance has covered as much as they have. I am not sure the exact allowance but I have a certain amount annually that is covered for diagnostic, testing and that sort of thing. My IUI was completely covered including the sperm washing and anaylysis. I can not remember the exact amount but I think they will cover up to 9,000 one time for IVF.
