on anti-depressants? SSRI's in particular - and is that why you are having a problem with male infertility? I am usually on the TTC board but just saw this board today. DH is on an SSRI and I found some recent studies that say it can lower sperm count and motility to alomst zero and can change the DNA in the sperm so its no good and cause miscarriages. Both of our Dr.'s said his medicine shouldn't cause a problem, but I am wondering if they just haven't seen this new research yet. I go back to my OB on Oct. 26. I will be on cycle 5 of TTC by then and will bring the studies with me.

But I was just curious if anyone on this board has had this problem?

Hi there. Nope My DH isn't on any medications. He should be on diabetic medication soon. His DR said diabetic medications shouldn't impair the quality of sperm.

Mine is infertile due to a genetic condition he was born with, not meds. I'd recommend printing out copies of this research and taking with you to the appt. Hopefully it's not a problem for your DH. Good luck!!!

My DH is on anti depression meds.
We have had his S/A done and it came back fine I was also worried about it. sometimes it depends on what type he is on. I think you should talk to his dr and they might be able to change it. when I was concerned I went and spoke to DH's Dr. He is very easy to talk to and any time I need advice about depression he has been great.
I knew DH would never ask (male Pride) so his dr told me that different meds can cause low sperm count but thank god DH was on different one's.
Please if you have any other question about dealing with Depression while TTC PM me, I've been there for a long time with this and know how hard it can be.
I hope I have helped in some way.
