Popping over from the TTC board... My DP has type 2 diabetes, and although we're only on our 3rd cycle - he's getting worried that he isn't going to be able to get me pregnant, due to damage his diabetes may have done.

If anyone does have MFI due to diabetes, how far into TTC did your SO get SA etc performed? DP has an appt with his diabetes team in a couple of months, and we're wondering if it is worth mentioning to them, and if it'd be worth discussing the possibility of getting a SA done around that time... or whether they'd just tell us to wait the 12 months before investigating further..

thanks
Emma

My DH was a genetic condition he was born with. As far as the S/A, I think it depends on the doctor as to when they'll order one. If you're concerned though, I'd press for one. If we'd known that about DH's problems earlier, it would have not taken us as long to get that BFP. And the S/A is one of the easiest (although embarrassing for the men) and it's one of the cheapest testing out there. Good luck!!!

thanks for that & congrats on your pregnancy!!! I might suggest he talks to his doctor when he goes for his next check up - if we haven't conceived by then..

My DH has type 2 diabetes. He has severe MFI. His Urologist said there's no way to detect if diabetes affect MFI. We are still in process of getting bloodworks done on DH as soon as we have the money to do it. Our insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertility.
