Ok, so I'm freaking out a little bit...My DH got an S/A done a few weeks ago, and I just called my doctor's office to see if they had gotten the results yet. They didn't say exactly why on the phone, but they want him to get further testing done- a full hormonal panel. Does that mean that the results were bad? This is the first S/A we have done, so I don't know anything about it.

They might just need more testing to give them a more complete picture of what is happening with him...sometimes one test doesn't tell them all they need to know. The results might not be so good, but if there is a simple hormonal imbalance that they can fix, they might want to give you all the information at once so you don't worry so much ( I know...we worry no matter what!).
My DH has had 4 different SAs plus urine samples and bloodwork...and I was terrified of the results every single time. Testing is good though...when you find a problem, then you can work on how to fix it so you can get that BFP!

Thanks Melissa! We were able to make it an appt today so that they can go over the S/A results with our doctor. At least we will know why they wanted the blood work.

Well, we are back from our appt., and the results were not so good. He has sperm, but it's a very low count, and it doesn't liquefy like it's supposed to. I am just really hoping and praying that the next S/A will have better results. I'm not feeling too badly about it right now, just kind of overwhelmed and a little bit shell-shocked. I really thought that if there was a problem, it was with me.

SAs can vary a lot from test to test...my DH's motility varied anywhere from 33% to 52% over his tests, so hopefully your next sample will be better. I'm sorry the news today wasn't great.

Yeah, I am hoping that the day we did the S/A was just a fluke or something- it did happen to be a day when DH had been working in the heat and was also really stressed b/c he was coming from a job and then had to go back to work after the S/A.
His count was only about 400,000 or so, if I remember correctly.

That's definitely low, but not so low that you don't have lots of options. I'll have my fingers crossed that next time brings better news!

Thank you so much Melissa! Your encouraging words really mean a lot! Our doctor seemed to think we have lots of options too, but it's hard right now because I just feel so bowled over by it.
