Hi! I just wanted to post something here. My husband and I have a 2 year old son. I was one clomid for 5 months, and got pregnant on a month we were taking a break. 2 months before his 1st b-day, we started trying for #2. Didn't get pregnant. I went back to the small infertility department at my ob's office. I stayed there a year trying to get pregnant again. After a year was up, I went to a large infertility doctor. She was wonderful. The first thing she did was get a SA. It came back horrible. His count was 3million the first time with a sperm morphology of 1%. He did it again about a month later. The count was up, but the morphology was still only ONLY 4%. She gave my husband some vitamins and said to come back in 72 DAYS. I had tried getting pregnant for a year and she said come back in 72 days!!! I cried in her office and begged her to let me take clomid, follistem & do an iui. She said that it was a waste of money. His sperm needed to improve and if it didn't ivf would be the only way. (husband didn't want to do ivf, rather adopt). Well, she let me go ahead a take the meds and do the iui. The day of the iui the numbers weren't great. But, I am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant.

Moral of the story is...if your husband has a sperm morphology problem, it's not the worst thing in the world!

holy cow!! i havent been on here in a while! im finally back on and saw this post so i read it! my dh has 1% morphology and we want to try iui first! I saw the RE yesterday and he just discouraged it more..it made me sad..we cant afford ivf right now...but we are going to do it anyway...thanks for sharing.you have given me hope..i think it was destined for me to read this! thanks again! congrats!

Thanks for posting this! We have been ttc over a year now and DH sperm count is at last check 7 million with a morphology of 1%- Although we have done 5 rounds of clomid, and 2 failed IUI's, we're trying "Instead Cups" this cycle. You've given us hope that it IS possible to have a miracle baby with low counts. THANK YOU!!

There are medicines you can take and herbs to increase sperm count. Now that you know the problem, you can fix it and get a fresh start on ttc! Don't worry, this is a good thing. You can only go up from here.


Also, this may not be your cup of tee but if your husband has a brother you can use his sperm to make it still have similar genes of your husband.. or get a total strangers sperm, but usually the guy is more comfortable with someone he knows and knows it wouldn't be sexual or anything. It's done totally seperate and there's no contact. So if you can get past the mind block, that might be an option if nothing else works. Good luck!
