For those ladies that are using or have used donor sperm, how many iui's did it take to get your BFP?
We have been really torn between doing ivf with DH's sperm or doing iui with donor sperm. We have an appt. with our RE next week to discuss donor sperm and as of right now that is the plan. I guess I'm a little worried that it may take awhile going the iui+DS route. The last two years of TTC have been so stressful and even more so with the past two failed iui's with DH's sperm. DH really wants to just do donor sperm, but I can't help but feel that ivf will get us a BFP sooner and end all this stress. I'm now trying to gather all the info that I can to help make the best decision. If you have any experience with using donor sperm and iui, could you please share how it went for you...good or bad. I'd appreciate any insight!!!

We worked with an RE and I got pg the 2nd IUI cycle using donor sperm. I did clomid cd3-7, followed by the trigger injection when the u/s & b/w showed I was ready to ovulate. Then the RE did 2 IUIs, 24 hours apart. The 1st one was done @ 12 hours after the trigger injection. The 2nd cycle, my uterine lining was a little thin so I was also on estrogen supplements. After the IUIs (after the 2nd one each cycle), I was started on progesterone supplements and continued supplements after the positive BFP until @ 10 weeks when the placenta fully took over. With the 1st cycle, when we got the BFN I stopped the progesterone and waited for AF to arrive.

Hope that answers your questions, if not please PM me and I'll be happy to assist further! I know how stressful this all is.

Good luck!!!

with my son, I got pg on my 2nd IUI. We did injectables, with a trigger, and then back-to-back IUIs. Right now I just got a BFN on my first IUI, so we'll be moving onto my second cycle as soon as AF arrives. I think they say there's like a 20-30% chance each cycle. IVF is about 50% success rate per cycle. BUT IVF cycles are usually a little longer, much more invasive, and much more expensive. We did IVF also - one failed cycle, one chemical pregnancy. I found the IUI cycles much easier on my body and my emotions.
