Hi there...
Last week we got word about my DH's sa results. So I guess I belong in this forum along with TTCMA.

To make a long story short since I know yall probably know the normal and all and the numbers wont confuse you, he came back with low sperm count of 3.5 million per milliliter and motility was at 50%- while the motility is right on borderline, they still said it was lower than they liked. He has been referred to an urologist and the appt is set for April 14th.

I have took some time to obsess and look things up on the internet and it seems that they recommend a vitamin to be taken and the ones with the most zinc help the low count- but I also read that zinc lowers motility, so I'm confused on that part?

anyways, all of what we/I have been thru so far is in my sig and now we have to deal with his issue to... Do we ever get a break?

Hi and Welcome. I'm Christy, mom to Brianna, wife to Clayton. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, but you'll find all the support in the world here. DH had a vasectomy reversal, and the soldiers took a major hit. We conceived Brianna using IVF with ICSI, and will be trying again in May for a second one.
As for zinc, I've heard conflicting things as well. There are quite a few supplements shown to improve sperm count, but unfortunately they don't always work. A few supplements we found (from our RE) were CoQ 10, L-arginine, L-carnitine, to name a few. Also, the old adage of no tighty-whities, no hot tubs, no alcohol.

Good luck with the urulogy appt!!! KUP!

Hello, welcome to MFI, sorry that you have to be here I just found out about 2 weeks ago that my DH has low counts, very similar to yours. We have our first RE appointment on Thursday so we are hoping for some answers soon! My DH ended up having a slight varicocele and can opt to have surgery, but the chances at it making a difference is only about 30 percent.
It looks like IVF will be our best option with his counts being so low. Please feel free to post here, we need some action around here! Also, TTC with MA is a nice board with very knowledgeable women!

Hello My name is Keri and I am the host of the board. We have been TTC since last January and was diagnosed with MFI last May or June. DH had a count of 7 million with like a 5% motility rate. Our RE suggested he increase his Zinc and he has. Also, RE suggested no alcohol and cut down on caffeine. We will do another SA in May to see if his counts have improved. *fingers crossed* ONE more thing that I have seen is to have DH on clomid. We personally have not tried that but I have seen a few ladies on here that have DHs on clomid. Good luck with everything and keep us posted!!
