Hello! I use to come here a long time ago and then I stopped coming but now I'm back again. Well me and DH are still trying for our first baby together (he has a 17 year old son) We have tried for over 3 yrs with NO luck it's getting very flustrating and it's makes it bad when I see everyone around me either being pregnate or just seeing someone at the grocery store with a cute little baby. Ok so here is what we have just done. We finally made our first appointment with a Fertility Dr and we seen him on Thursday of last week. So far we know the problem is with my husband he has a low sperm count that we had done at my OB. Our new Fertility Dr said his Sperm count was VERY low and so was his Motility count. So they just did a blood test on him on Thursday after his appointment so they can check his FSH Levels and then when that comes back they said they may repeat his test to check his sperm count that maybe it was just a fluke thing that it was so very low. Then on my 2nd day of my next period I have to go have blood work done to check my FSH levels and then we will go from there. He mentioned something about some meds I could take like Clomid and some kind of Shots I could take. I'm not sure what to make of this all it's kind of flustrating being I'm 43 yrs old and my hubby is 41 (42 in Aug) and we just want one baby and it's that hard to make it happen. Does anyone have any experiances in this kind of problem and what else might happen at my visits at the fertility specialist?
Thanks for listening to my long post. I forgot to add the Dr also put me on some Prenatal vitamins he said it would be a good thing.

Happy Easter, Wendy

Hi Wendy. I'm Christy, DH is Clayton. We also have MFI, and have been unable to get pregnant on our own. We conceived our daughter, Brianna, with in vitro with ICSI, and are getting ready to do an in vitro cycle in May for a second child. MFI is very frustrating, and I'm sorry you guys are going through this.

Your visits at the doctor will depend on how severe your husband's sperm problems are (my husband has a very low count), and what your FSH levels show. If your FSH levels are high, he may want to be more aggressive in his treatment plan, and if it's normal, he may go a bit slower. He may try to increase how many eggs your ovulate to increase the chance of fertilization (clomid or FSH injectables), he could recommend IUI, or he'll recommend in vitro with ICSI. IVF with ICSI tends to bypass the male factor because the sperm is put right into the egg (this is the only thing that worked for us). There are many roads to that BFP, and I hope it comes soon for you!

Sorry for the long post.

Hi Wendy My name is Keri and I'm the host here.

And I agree with Christy. Your doctor apts will be determined based on the test results. My hubby has a 7 million count (the want to see 20 million) and I have severe endometriosis. My cycles are super long unless I am on Clomid so Clomid for me is basically mandatory for TTC. We have had 2 failed IUIs and will be going in for another at the end of May. Hubby isnt taking anything other then loads of vitamins but I have heard, agian depending on the test results, huby can take clomid too to increase sperm. So that may be a thought as well.

Good luck with everything and please let us know what the test results come back as! I'll be watching for you on the board

Hi Wendy, do you have DH's numbers by chance? My DH had mostly marginal and I also have PCOS, but my OB said that even with his numbers, we have a chance to get pg if I can have a good O on Clomid. I did my first cycle last month, you can check out my chart, we really thought this was IT! But, AF is on her way Just wanted to give you some hope that depending on his numbers maybe it would only take you on Clomid to get you pg

Hi Tammy and thanks for the info. No I don't have his numbers. I just posted a new message on what his blood test said.
