Hi Ladies and sorry I have been MIA... I have been crazy busy with work and my step son is on the baseball team so running with that laundry in between games so he has a clean uniform for the next day. We don't have a washer and dryer at home so that means I go to the laundry mat.. YUCK!!

Ok so from one of my previous post I was down about not being able to do the IVF due to finances and stuff. Well I called my dr office today and actually got to talk to the dr he is so very nice and we talked about some other options for me I told him it was like my dream was right there with my hands almost reaching it and someone was at the other end slapping my hand saying NO you can't have it. I told him that was very hard! He understood so I asked him if he had any other options we could try. He said we could try the Clomid to make me produce more eggs and we could try on our own (it would be cheaper) but since my hubby has very low sperm count not sure that would work. I told my dr about how much $$ we had to work with and he suggested we think about using Frozen Embryos he told me that would run around $3,000 to $4,000 So much cheaper than $18,000 for the IVF! So he is telling me we could have about a 45% or more chance of getting prego using frozen Embryos then I asked about multiple babies and he said there is about a 20% chance that it can happen.
Ok so has anyone every done the Frozen Embryo route and what was your experiances with it? I hate to admit but I'm a little excited about this knowing it is within my reach of my dream to do it this route now all I have to do is talk to DH he is at my son's baseball game tonight out of town. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he goes for it.

Thanks ladies!

Wendy, I am uncertain at what your doctor is proposing. Is this a donor embryo with donor sperm or an embryo from a couple who decided they wanted to donate it?

i suppose it depends on your feelings about it being a "donor" embryo. I'm not sure of your history as to whether if you had full IVF you'd be using your own eggs and sperm or donor ones.

I haven't have a frozen cycle but we've been told that on our NHS cycle any "spare" embryos will be frozen for later use for more children or if the fresh cycle failed.

I know what you mean about cost, the cost here of a fresh cycle is about £3500.00/£4500.00 compared to about £1500.00 for frozen. So i'm really hoping our fresh cycle when we have it will have some spares for freezing.

I'm beyond caring now if IVF leaves me with a multiple pregnancy, in my view it'd be the best thing, despite any complications that could happen. I just want a baby! Or two or three!

I hope you manage to work something out, it's terrible thinking that something could *finally* be in reach only to have it snatched away again. Big

Thanks KittyCat! Yes it's tough to have your dream right with in reach and you can't have it due to money!! That ticks me right off! I am 43 yrs old and DH is 41 almost 42 so my Fertility dr said with my eggs I would have a less than 10% chance of it working due to at an older age your eggs are not as good. Plus that is more money too. I have to call on Monday again and talk to the billing lady she was out of the office on Friday when I talked to the nurse who knows everything about the frozen embryos and everything else. I also have to discuss this more with my DH I'm not sure what he is feeling about this being if we do this we will not have any of our genes in the baby. I have told him the general infomation I had gotten from the dr but I haven't told him the answers to my questions I got from the nurse so I'm hoping today we can find time privately (without my step son around) to talk about this in detail and ask if he has any questions.
