I am dealing with MFI. I have two children by my previous husband and me and my boyfriend are trying to get pregnant. Just one more child [he doesn't have any of his own]. I have irregular cycles, but do ovulate. DBF has low motility and low count. I have all the counts on my FF home page. I just started my first round of clomid yesterday and I don't know if I will be able to afford it, but if the Clomid works this cycle, the RE is suggesting IUI next cycle- he says we'd be prime candidates. We have been TTC for 11 months almost; 9 cycles now.

Thanks for reading!

Hey there! I'm Sarah (24) DH is Charlie (30) and we are dealing with MFI as well.I can't see your FF home page link? so I don't know your BFs counts but my DH had 3% morphology, 29% motility, and 9.8 million as his count. We have been TTC#1 for 9 months now, cycle#7

We are doing an IUI this month and I'm hoping the first times the charm! I hope your stay here is short and sweet

Hi welcome to the group!. my DH has low motility and count too.
without knowing your husbands SA numbers its hard for me to give advice. but if the RE says you have a good chance with IUI the counts must not be that bad. we were basically told to look into IVF or donor sperm. with a count of 16 million and motility of only 8 %.

ok I see your FF page. well firstly its important to remember sperm count/quality/motility can really fluctuate from day to day. even the slightest cold can lower motility. but it looks like his count went up so thats a good sign. I think your RE is correct and you do have a good chance with IUI. this makes me wonder if we should go that route also.

His morph was pretty decent- went down with the second SA, but they think that may have been for holding longer [the first SA was after 2.5 days, the second after 4.5].

I'm just so frustrated- I don't even know if we will be able to afford the IUI because we have no fertility coverage.

hello and welcome! i don't really have any specific advice. Our count improved on the second SA, DH got a good multivitamin, stopped smoking, cut down the drinking. No hot baths and no tight undies. Dunno if one or all of these things made a difference, but the count has improved.
We're waiting for IVF with ICSI next year

Hey Red Sox-
My name is Keri- Im the host here on the board. DH and I have also delt with low motility and low counts. As LisaP2008 explained- counts can fluctuate rapidly with each test.
My DH had a 7 million count and 4-5 motility rate. Our RE also suggested IUI. We did two attempts at IUI but both had failed. He then recommended DH to stop drinking and to start taking a multivitamin with Zinc. We tried instead cups just 3 months after DH stopped drinking and started taking zinc- and we got a BFP ON OUR OWN!!!
Becoming pregnant is so frustrating!! I have always asked "How could the IUIs not have worked- but "on our own" did? Timing is everything...and I believe diet plays a big role. ALSO- sperm is "made" every 90 or so days...meaning- what he does today will start taking affect in his sperm in about 3 months. ...and I strongly believe in that since DH quit drinking in Jan and we got a BFP in early April--
I wish you the best of luck and hope you get a BFP soon!

DBF is on a crapload of supplements and has been for about 5 months. We added grapeseed extract this month, but he's been on the other stuff since January. He's taking a super supplement by Nature's sunshine [which has plenty of zinc], L-carnatine, L-arganine, L-tyrosine, vitamin C, folic acid, magnesium, and B-complex.

ETA: he stopped drinking in December, and quit using marijuana as well, the beginning of this year. It's all so infuriating and depressing.
