Have any of you tried it? Has it helped at all? How much does DH have to be on and for how long? Any bad side effects? TIA!

DH has been on 25mg of Clomid every other day for 4 months now. He started at 50mg a day, but his hormones shot up, so his dr. reduced his dosage and now his testosterone and LH are right in the normal range. He has not had any side effects, although sometimes I think he may have some mood swings lol. His sperm count was 0 to start with, they found 5 after doing a testicular biopsy, so his dr. wants him on it for 6 months before he will say it didn't work. He did do a s/a at the end of May, but we don't have those results back yet. If it comes back 0 we have to wait until July for another s/a. Although we may move to donor sperm if it's 0. I have read online that for Clomid to work for a guy it needs to be a hormone problem. There hasn't been a lot of research and it's pretty controversial, but it has helped some guys, they just don't know exactly why. KUP if your DH tries it, I will post an update when we get DH's results.

My DH took Clomid - 25 mg once a day. Sperm is "replenished" every 90 days so it takes that long to see any real results. He didn't notice any side effects.

He started taking it in Oct 2008 - our first IUI his postwash counts were 357,000 - our second IUI (in Dec 08) his postwash counts were 950,000 - and finally for our IVF on May 1, 2009 his postwash counts were 2 million. Our IVF (w/ ICSI) was successful the first go around - I gave birth to our daughter on Jan 6, 2010.

So it was definitely helping. I should add - that we had all the hormone testing and all that done on him and there is no known cause for his infertility - everything was normal.

DH did the hormone testing and his was normal too. He was in the low-normal range, but still in the normal range. His urologist was shocked when they did the biopsy and only found 5, they told us they would go in and find none or plenty. So, they have no idea what is going on really.

April, I sure hope my DH responds to the Clomid also, thats a nice increase in numbers!
