Hi everyone! I'm new here - just starting posting on the TTC board. My SO and I just started this month TTC and I'm concerned because as a child he had an undesended (sp?) testicle. He had surgery at age 10 to bring it down but I want to know if that has any impact on fertility. He's never had an analysis done so we have no idea if he's even producing sperm or if they are "normal".
Any insight?
I want to TTC at least 6 months before I have him tested.
Thanks!

My husband also had an undesended testicle as a child that desended on its own by age 11...its noticably smaller though and we did have MFI, low counts and low motility but we also conceived our son naturally, after 2 years and 2 months of trying. But on the other hand, I have a friend who's husband had an undesended testicle that desended at 9 and she's been pregnant 6 times, 2 were miscarriages and 4 healthy baby girls...you won't really know unless he has an SA but our fertility specialist said she believes thats where my dh's counts and motility issues were stemming from because all kinds of tests came back normal and there was no other reason for him to have low counts and motility, hopefully that won't be the case for you all!

my DH also has an undescended testicle, it wasn't corrected until around the age of ten. However, he also suffered mumps in adulthood, also a cause of MFI. So, we don't know if it's one or the other, or both that has caused the MFI.

Some docs we saw seemed more concerned about the mumps, others about the testicle. Either way, we're having trouble!!

Thank you for that article. I think we'll wait about 4-6 months to see if what happens and if no BFPs I'll look into getting an SA done for him.
