DH and I saw the urologist today. Honestly, the urologist didn't say much other than "Yeah, this count is really low" and asked if our son (who we brought along) was DH's. Yes, miraculously, he is . He checked for varioceles and didn't find any. DH is going to have his hormone levels checked and get another SA done soon.

Anyway, I got a copy of his results so these are the official numbers (Which don't seem as detailed as some I've seen, but whatever)

Semen Volume: 2.5ml
ph : 8.5 (normal 7.2-8)
motile/ml .5 million
sperm/ml 1.35
motility 36%
Grade: 2.5
motile/ejaculate 1.3
viscosity 4
agglutination 4

WHO Morph NL 15% (but under the expected values it says 15 or greater is normal?!?!)

Anyway, I understand the gist of it I guess. Pretty much all very low. I'm wondering about the Ph. Can having a high PH cause a low sperm count? Is that a bad thing?

I'm actually relieved the motility is as good at is b/c when I asked the nurse over the phone she said the motility was .5 and I thought she meant .5%....36% is still bad but alot better than that.

Yea...that count is super low BUT-- the motility is pretty good so that should keep you optimistic. It only takes ONE sperm and the sperm needs to be able to travel so you still have plenty of sperm and you have some 'swimmers'-- don't lose hope!
