About a month ago- I was diagnosed with a really bad UTI. I was then put on an antibiotic for a week but it didn't cure it so they put me on another antibiotic called Bactrum. I got super sick on it, puking everything up and well- just felt horrible on it. I even had to call off work a few days because of the nausea. (I've never got morning sickness so its not that) Anyways, the last day of the antibiotic course, I developed a pretty bad rash or hives ALL over my entire face, neck and chest. The doctor wanted to see him. When he did, he diagnosed me to have a sulfa allergy (which is the main ingredient of Bactrum) and said it should be gone in a week. Well its been a week and a half and its getting WORSE! The rash is spreading to my back and arms, its super itchy and a little painful (like pimples), I've had a headache for 4 days straight and I woke up this morning with a sore throat. I'm going back to the doctors in 30 mins to see what is going on. They aren't too concerned about my baby but they say I may need more drastic approach to stopping the allergic reaction. I've tried tons of benadrl and hydrocortozine lotions and nothing....
Wish me luck- Ill update when I get home...Im kinda getting scared now...

Keri I hope they kind find something to get rid of the allergic reaction fast! I'll be praying your appt. goes well and the doctor knows just what to give you! I know how scary it is, when I did IVF we found out on literally the last day of PIO shots that I was allergic to them because I broke out in hives all over the injection spots. Benadryl worked for me, but it was a long time before the hives were completely gone. I have lots of medicine allergies, but luckily since I've been a baby I haven't needed more than Benadryl and stopping the medicine. FX for you! Make sure you never take a sulfa drug again, the more times you are exposed the worse the reaction gets!

Yikes, I really hope they get things under control, this sounds miserable! For future reference on UTI's though, I used to get them 9-10 times a year for 3 years, several ER visits and excruciating pain to where I'd bleed with them, ever since I started taking super strength 1 a day cranberry pills, I've never got another one, it was a God send...I took them all throughout my pregnancy too, perfectly safe...UTI's are very common in pregnancy and I was afraid the cranberry pills wouldn't hold them off when I was pregnant but they did. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Ladies for you thoughts!!!

I ended up seeing one of my Docs sidekicks to see if she could figure it out---and she had no clue!! We all are saying its either "Allergy to Bactrum/Sulfa" OR "its flat out pregnancy related"- so she is sending me to a dermatologist just in case.

ON A GOOD NOTE-- we scheduled our gender ultrasound for July 20th!! YAY!!!!!
