Hi, my name is Kerstin and I'm new to this board. It won't let me use the search function, so I apologize if you had this topic before. I was just wondering if there is anyone whose husband had a reversal?
My husband had his reversal done in Jan. 07 and we're still trying to conceive. The doctor said that there is a chance for us, but it wouldn't hurt if we get some help. He even recommend for him to take clomifen.

My DH did not have a reversal but we do have some ladies on here whose DHs have had reversal. I'm sure they will respond when they see this.

Have you had a semen analysis done since your hubby had his reversal? What were his counts? Have you tried other TTC methods such as IUI or instead cups?

Hello Keri

He had 3 semen analysis done since the reversal. The first one was very good, the next one was really bad, and the last one was better, but still not as good as the one right after his reversal. I don't remember what the counts were, I was just so relieved that it finally looked better again.

So far we only did 2 rounds of clomifen. We wanted to do more, but we then moved to Gemany and he got deployed. He is back since Nov. 09 and we wanted to try it on our own first, and he also had to go to school for six weeks. He should be home for a while now, which gives us the time to try it again. I'm having a doctor appt. on Sept. 1 and he got a referral to see a specialist.

I never heard of instead cups *blush*, I'm pretty new to everything on here and still trying to figure out what all the abbreviations stand for. But I'm a quick learner .

Instead cups, or soft cups, is a cup that is used for your periods BUT people are now using them for conception. Its a little silicone cup that you insert into you vagina. Before hand, have hubby ejaculate into the cup and then insert into your vagina. It keeps the sperm close to the cervix and preventing the sperm to 'leak out'. We used them and got pregnant the very first try. check out the site!

Well... we are currently saving for our vasectomy reversal to be done in less than a year. Who was your doctor? Maybe I will recognize the name if he is one of the more popular ones. I have spent a long time now on the baby center "trying to conceive after vasectomy reversal" board. You might want to check the place out because there everyone is in your shoes. What I can tell you is that the average time to conceive after a reversal is 12 months and taking longer is not uncommon. If you had a good SA than that is very promising. Most men after a reversal have a somewhat lower sperm count, although some get a return to what they had before. So a lot of time your working with a lower count and/or lower mobility and this can make things take a bit longer.
