Hey ladies! I have been over on the ttc year 1+ for a few months and had some questions that you guys might be more knowledgeable about. I am Angie (32). DH and I have been ttc for just over a year and we have just been through with all of the initial testing. I am not ovulating regularly so on the clomid I go! We found out today that while DH's sperm count and motility are all good......he has some abnormal sperm. I have never heard of abnormal sperm?!?! He has an appointment scheduled with the urologist in a few weeks and will get double checked over there. Any of you ladies have DH's with this problem? Thoughts, suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

Hi there! The abnormal sperm issue is referring to the morphology, which is basically the percentage of sperm that have a "normal" shape. There are several different scales/methods of determining the morphology, and frankly I find it all confusing It's great that your DH has good count and motility, though! Hopefully your urologist will have some good insight and advice for you.

Thanks for the help! I am hoping that everything is just fine and maybe something was a little off that day. The doctor didn't seem to be overly concerned about it. He said his boys (as the DH puts it) are not great, but are good. Sounds good to me! At least we have a start!

Hello! Welcome to the board!!
My hubby also had issues with 'abnormal sperm'- not really sure what causes it but my hubby had alot...so our doc was pretty concerned about it. His was just about 50% of his entire sperm count. They were mostly double headed or with no tails....
Just as with low sperm counts, our doc told us to 'Up' the Zinc intake and it would hopefully all work it self out.
It did, 3 months later, for we are expecting in December.
So try some Zinc and some good multivitamins.

*REMEMBER*- sperm is reproduce every 3 months or so--meaning whatever it is that your hubby does today.....effects the sperm that will come out 3 months from now. So start on those vitamins ASAP and in 3 months- his sperm should be lots better!

Im on here too! Also..add in some vit. c and e! Maybe d too! thats all it took (with a little less alcohol and some weight loss)and my dhs went wayy up! good luck again!!
