had my 2nd cycle doing IUI this month...yesterday we did an iui and dh's total count was 110 million and then after the wash, etc it was 18 million...well today I went for the 2nd one and there was ZERO sperm....ok, what? even the nurses were confused and didnt know what to say.

dh has had 2 sperm analysis done within 6 months and the first one was 33 million and the second one was 161 million.

the first cycle we did iui he had one day with zero sperm and then had to do another sample pretty much back to back and ended up with 1 million post wash and 2 million post wash the next day...so not that great at all.

the last time we met with the RE he didnt seem concerned about the numbers because the first 2 analysis were 33 and 161 million....so what gives?? I know dh has low volume....but the RE said his numbers were good considering the volume is low...

thank gawd we did the iui yesterday with 18 million...plus I had the trigger shot and had 3 mature follicles...so I am hoping something comes out of this....I didnt have time to go home and get another sample and wait around for it to be washed etc today so the nurse just said to BD later tonight....guess it cant hurt.

I guess we should make another appt with the RE to discuss the zero sperm issue...do you think it just takes him longer to build it back up??? or what else could it be?

Hi and Sperm counts can fluctuate ALOT even from day to day and it could be taking your DH awhile to build his supply....but to go from 110 million (which is excellent,BTW) to zero zperm is something you should probably investigate further. I would talk to your RE and also see if you can get your DH in to see a urologist to discuss the issue. Low volume can be a sign of prostate problems or other issues that may be able to be imporoved. It sounds like his sperm count is awesome sometimes and not other days. Hopefully if it can be awesome when you are ovualting you can get pregnant soon!
