Hey ladies. (BTW, the 'End of the world' bit isn't serious...just my goofy sense of humor to make light of this crappy situation)

So i've been a lurker for over a year now (I discovered this board right after DH and I decided to try for #2). My daughter was an 'oopsie' so we were 100% sure that we would conceive #2 quickly. Now over a year later, I'm sitting here totally baffled and angry that I've been looking at BFN's EVERY SINGLE CYCLE for the past year.

last year in October, I decided that if we weren't pregnant by the new year, I would start investigating our fertility. I had all blood work done to check my hormone levels, Had my fallopian tubes checked for a cyst and even got tested for Celiac Disease. I passed everything with flying colors. My obgyn suggested that my DH get a sperm analysis (I hadn't even THOUGHT it could be him at all). When she called me with the results she said that everything appeared really normal EXCEPT for his morphology. She said that a normal healthy male averages 3% morphology and my DH's is at 2%.

I've been doing tons of research online and keep getting mixed messages. It seems like a really tough criteria to test in the 'normal' range of sperm shape. Some articles state that 5-9% is in the normal range and less than 5% is considered SUBfertile.

Basically my obgyn said that it is most likely the reason we have not conceived but that it doesn't necessarily mean that we never will. She suggested that if we are interested in IVF, to get an appointment now.

Here's the thing. I'm 29 and my husband is 30. We are both insanely healthy and active. I don't feel like an IVF treatment is logical at this point. I also am learning quickly that the Morphology of sperm seems to be a VERY grey area when it comes to diagnosing INfertility. My DH is supposedly considered 'SUBfertile' which isn't the greatest if you ask me. I just didn't feel a sense of urgency from my doctor on the subject and I'm confused.

I'm pretty sure that IVF treatments would destroy my marriage (financially and emotionally). So I'm wondering if any of you ladies have had experience with low Morphology or any success stories...We have a beautiful healthy 8 year old girl together already but I would love to not give up hope on bringing another angel into the world naturally...

My husband came back with a 1% Morph last month. I can imagine how you feel, but like you said, that is a strict criteria number and really isn't as bad as you think. There's a few well educated ladies that I hope can chime in and help. There are a handful of supplements that he can take that might be able to help also.

Where would that be? I didn't see a success story section but I love reading success stories.

We have a girl whose husband had 0% morphology and she conceived naturally! I believe she even went through IVF that did not work, so it can happen. My dh has 3% morphology and while we haven't conceived # 2 yet, we did conceive # 1 naturally, it took 26 months but we conceived him so its definitely possible, I hope you get your BFP soon!

sounds like the same situation as me and my fiance. We have been trying since September with no luck. My cycles have not been "normal" and all over the place. There were times where I wasnt even sure if I had ovulated. I have been using the ovulation test kits and not getting any results some months. My dr recommended that my fiance get a sperm analysis done. The volume was normal as was the total amount of sperm. The morphology was the problem. They were abnormally shaped which he feels is the reason why we are not pregnant. I am going next week for a HSG which doesnt sound like too much fun for me!!! He just wants to rule out any problems with me since I am 33 and this will be my first child. I have mixed emotions about "playing God".....My fiance's brother had the same thing and eventually they got pregnant but it was a long time and I'm really not willing to wait forever due to my age and wanting more than one. But at the same time it seems odd to plan it all out. We are going on a cruise in January 2012 and we are getting married Sept 2012 so we are trying to plan a baby around all that. We are still trying regardless because a baby is more important than a cruise!!! I'm just concerned about taking drugs to conceive. I'm not really into the whole chemical thing. I feel like I am getting mixed views as well. Some people say it can still happen naturally and obviously it can but how long do you wait???
