Hello- I am totally new to this board/forum stuff!!

My husband is currently taking LH shots every other day. We had a SA done and weren't told specifics, just that he had a low sperm count, and that they would like to add the FSH shot to our regimen, so he would get a shot every day accept sunday.

I was wondering if anyone had done this, and if they knew the cost, out of pocket for these additional shots. The LH shots cost us almost 500 dollars a month. We are willing to suffice any cost, but would like to have an idea about how much the additional shot will be. We are not for sure what name brand/ or specific med is, accept that it is a FSH Shot.

Any additional feedback would be amazing!!! Also, I am doing OPK testing, temps, etc. Does anyone know how often we should be having intercourse, when we shouldn't? Any advice would be great!!!

You really should demand they give you a copy of the SA. I have no idea how much more meds would cost, my husband only did HCG shots of 500mg daily and it helped me get my BFP but I lost the baby.

do keep in mind that if his sperm count is low it can take several months of treatment to see a enough of a improvement to get a natural BFP. although I have seen some women get a BFP after a month or two of their husbands treatment for most it can take up to 6 months.

My husbands morphology ( sperm health) is good , his count is just a little low so we BD every 3-4 days . 4 days of abstinence will give him the highest count without sperm damage .

I found out that his count is only 1 million. I am very very happy that he has one at all!! He had 2 varicocles, with surgery to repair both, and still has epidydimitis and orchitis, as well as no testosterone.

I had no idea how long we needed to go between BD. I worry that waiting 4 days, I may miss my ovulation period. Is this something I shouldn't worry about? I know they can live in CM for 5 days.

Also, have you talked to many people that have had success with the injections? I have recently heard about IUI from a co-worker. Any additional info on this would be great!!

I use ovulation tests starting from cd 10 till I ovulate and once I get my positive we BD. that way I dont worry about missing ovulation. you dont have to abstain for 4 days but with a count that low you dont want to BD daily so the most often I would say is every other day. at least with doing it every other day his sperm will be young I often worry about old sperm that has been sitting too long.

I would recommend seeing a fertility specialist , and whatever you do dont let them give him straight testosterone because this stops sperm production. its best to stimulate a natural rise in testosterone through the HCG. also tamoxifen is a much lower cost treatment that has been proven to raise FSH LH and Testosterone , my DH was on it for 6 months and it drastically raise his count .
