I'm hoping this is in the right place, if not, please feel free to move it.

My husband and I have been TTC for about 7 months now, with no success. I started charting my temps and cervical fluid, and unless I was sick (and taking robitussin), I could always tell when I ovulate. We even started having more sex around the time I ovulate, but still nothing.

I understand it sometimes won't happen right away, but at seven months of well planned intercourse with no positive, I'm starting to get worried.

I have noticed, though, that when he doesn't ejaculate inside, he doesn't have very much semen at all. A rough estimate, it may fill half of a sewing thimble . . . maybe 3/4 on a good day.

Now I know I have just as much chance of being infertile as he does...but I would just like to know if he sounds normal or if maybe we should go see his doctor?

I would go ahead and schedule a semen analysis at your nearest fertility clinic. hopefully everything is fine but at least you will know .

I sincerely hope all is well but if you are really concerned , best go see a doctor and find out for certain if there is an issue. My husband and I tried TTC for close to a year before we decided to see a doctor and it turned out he had a syndrome where he doesn't produce enough testosterone therefore very little semen and no sperm at all. We did hormone replacement thearpy and now his testosterone levels are normal but we are persuing pregnancy with donor sperm. I'm glad we figured out what the problem was but it was scary at the same time. I hope you and your husband are able to conceive with out an issue but if you are scared or just need to vent , you come back here anytime ! This is the BEST place for that.

You have to get the SA done. That is the only way to know. Mine has abnormal morphology but his count is super high - like 200 million. I will tell you though even doing iui and collecting his sample at home there has been very little at times. In fact, we were worried it wouldn't even be enough for IUI. Well it came back to have 100 million sperm so just cause the amount is small doesn't mean the count is bad. He may just be dehydrated or something and his semen doesnt' have all the extra stuff with it. The only way to know for sure though is that SA

Definitely check with a doctor, but there's only a 25% chance of conception in any given month, and the theory is that 20-50% of fertilized eggs don't implant correctly or don't survive longer than a month. Hopefully everything is fine, and I'm sure a doctor can help you figure that out.

I to recommend the SA, that's the only way to know for sure. We had been TTC for a little over a year before we had one done. Good luck!!

I'm going to what everyone else has said!!! get a semen analysis!!!

Although, if I were you, I'd get both him and yourself tested. I've luckily found that on our end, I have no problems ... however my husband has low everything (count, motility, 0% morph, volume, testosterone, etc...) AND he just went in for chromosome (blood) testing to see if that's the issue as well...now granted, we've been trying for 2 years and his numbers have not improved at all...
but if the chromosome testing comes back positive for the issue, then we will know that trying on our own is no use and that we will have to pursue either donor sperm, embryo adoption or traditional adoption.

I'm not by any means trying to scare you - I'm just telling you our story...

I know how scary testing is, but if you don't GET tested, you'll never know if there IS something that you should be treating.
