Ladies, I need your help. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost a year now. After about 4 months, I had a feeling something was up, and we both went in to get checked...to make sure everything was normal. My HCG, Progesterone levels, everything on my end came back normal. My husbands analysis came back great, other than he had a elevated level of white blood cells, and 3% morph. He was put on antibiotics for a month, and we did another analysis a week later. Unfortunately, it came back, no change. Our specialist recommended trying IUI. So we did. Twice. Wish I would have done my research before I moved fwd. Both times that we tried IUI, she said that they didn't find any white blood cells when doing the wash, not the first time, and not the second time. Weird? I was given Clomid the first time & Ovidrel shot. The morning of the first IUI, they did an ultrasound to confirm follicle size, gave me the Ovidrel shot, and we did the first IUI an hour later. We came back the next morning, and did the second IUI. I came back 5 days later for a progesterone check, and it was 28. First one failed. I started my cycle 14 days exactly from the day I ovulated. The specialist said that she felt my period started too soon, and that she felt like my progesterone levels dropped too soon, not allowing implantation to take place. She advised us to do a second, and put me on Prometrium supps to keep my levels up. So, we did the same protocol, clomid, ovidrel and 2 back to back IUI's. Again, I took the trigger shot that morning, did the IUI an hour later, and came back the next morning for the second. Second one...failed. I started researching during my second 2ww, and realized that everyone took their trigger shots, and didn't do their IUI until 36 hours LATER. I didn't realize it took 36-40 hrs to ovulate after the trigger. With that being said my two questions:

Opinions on the timing of my IUI? I feel like I was misled, and ripped off. When I asked them why they did it that way, all she could tell me was "Well with Clomid you typically start to ovulate on your own, so we figure you already started the process before the trigger."

Second, anyone have any experience with elevated white blood cells?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks ladies!

My DH had elevated WBC. It was 4000 instead of 1000. This was one week after coming off a 2 week dose of Antibiotics to get ready for IVF. RE asked him if it burned when he peed he said, "no". Well guess what? Two weeks later it started to hurt him when he peed. He ended up with a UTI and was in Cypro antibiotics for 30 days. That fixed the problem.

As far as your IUI and your trigger shot????? Yes- that is crazy. I've never heard of doing your IUI an hour after your trigger. Where you monitored with Ultrasounds?

Also starting AF 14 days after Ovulation is perfect. RE like to see a lutuel phase of 14-16 days. So I am not sure what your dr is talking about. Your progesterone at 28 is a great number.

Are you seeing an OBGYN or an RE? Sounds like you might be going to your OB that is playing a little with infertility when that isn't their specialty. I would recommend finding another Dr and make sure it's an RE. I am sorry that you have been mislead by this Dr.

Good luck.

Also can I suggest jumping over the the Trying to conceive with medical assistance TTCMA board? I know you will get more responses and learn a wealth of knowledge to help you in the future.
