My DH and I have been TTC since February and recently found out he has extremely low testosterone levels. He was tired all the time, moody, absolutely NO libido, gaining weight, and just in general not his normal happy and positive self. Symptoms were very much like depression. He went to a Low T center and after telling the doctor we were TTC, he was put on testosterone replacement therapy in the form of bi-weekly injections, as well as HCG injections that he gives himself 3 times a week after each testosterone shot. Has anyone had any experience with their DH taking both testosterone and HCG? I know that testosterone therapy can cause men to become sterile, but I'm wondering how well the HCG can counteract that when taken together? He's only been doing the treatment for about 2 months, and the change in him is amazing - he's himself again - happy, laughing, wanting to jump my bones every chance he gets. Its wonderful. I don't want to do anything that will prevent us from being able to have a baby, but I also don't want to see him go back to the state he was in before TRT. Any success stories or advice?
I'd be interested to know too. I thought my husband had low T, because of the same stuff you say your husband was experiencing (no sex drive, weight gain, etc)....but his came back normal, so idk what's going on with that b/c he's only 32!
I have heard that about testosterone medication, that it can kill the sperm all together, so if I were you I wouldn't wait too long before having a repeat SA to see if it's helping/hurting his problem!
My DH has been on TRT for two years. We've been trying to conceive for the last year. We went to a fertility specialist a few months ago and he told us that the only way to prevent infertility during TRT is to also be on HCG. He also said that my DH should stop going to the Low T center for TRT and go to a urologist for both the TRT and get started on HCG. He had some pretty terrible things to say about the Low T centers and trying to conceive. Better to see a specialist.
And I agree about a repeat SA fairly quickly. It should only take a few weeks for the medicine to start taking effect.
Not sure this was helpful... but I feel for you. We are still trying.
