I have been noticing some issues with my posts lately, I will make my post and submit it, and when it shows up on the screen, the same content shows up twice in the same post. It's not every time, and I haven't figured out if there's a trigger, but it's kind of annoying.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I do encounter it from time to time myself. I have asked our tech people about it.

I can't seem to figure out what it is that causes it, either.

It seems to have something to do with the smileys, as far as I can tell....
**Okay, maybe not. It did it the last few times I had a smiley, but now this time it's not showing up. Hmmmm....

I'm still having lots of trouble with these double and even triple posts. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the combination of contractions and smileys, but it's difficult to say as it doesn't happen every time. I do see other people with this problem too though.

Almost every post I've made today, with or with out smileys has been double posted.. and then it doesn't want to let me edit it to remove the 2nd part.

I've been able to go back and edit mine, but I still can't seem to figure out what's causing the issues. It "seems" like it has something to do with either punctuation, smileys, or a combination of both, but I can't tell for the life of me....

I'm pretty certain it doesn't have anything to do with smilies or punctuation. I have had it happen from time to time and even in posts when I've used nothing except a period and no emoticons.
I've asked our tech people to see if they are able to identify the cause and if there is anything that we can do about it.

I just keep trying theories in here.... does it seem to be working? It would figure though, that every time I actually try to post something in here, it works perfectly, but on any other board I have a bunch of issues.

For awhile I thought it had something to do with someone posting above me in the thread while I was typing my post, because that seemed to keep happening... Or the length of time I was viewing a thread before I replied... But there have been a couple of replies that double posted when I was only on the page for seconds, and my reply took seconds to type - and no one had posted above me at all.
I did notice, though, that is only in replies not new threads.

Ok, it only ever happens for me when I use quick reply. Normally under quick reply it is supposed to just show the post once you click "post", but when it does the strange double post thingy it shows the "Your post has just been submitted" or whatever, with the little bit about allowing a poll. Almost as if it is registering the quick reply as a new thread kind of??? Oh, and when I edit and click "Save", it never refreshes I have to refresh manually to see that it has been saved.

Theorizing here... Could it be linked to the way that the quick reply posts without leaving/truly reloading the page? It seems like the double posts occur for me when I quick reply and it does the little spinny circle "Loading," but then instead of just popping the new post on the page it goes to the "post submitted" and reloads the page entirely. Or maybe when someone else posts at the same time, so the page you're currently looking at - the one it wants to tack your post onto without refreshing - isn't the most up to date version of the page, so it gets confused.

I'm noticing that the more I use enter to make a new line, like if I hit it twice to make a space between paragraphs, that it seems to have an effect on whether I get a double post or not. Not every time, but almost every time.
It's just a bit weird. And it's getting annoying with the longer posts where it's happening, because it gets confusing.

Muwahaha, it worked! Any ideas if there's a way to fix this type of glitch?

I'm glad you posted this because I was JUST coming here to make a thread about this. It is SO annoying. This happens to me EVERY SINGLE TIME I POST!!! Every post is a double one. I'm really tired of editing. I hope the problem is identified SOOOON!
See, I bet you anything when I send this post, it will show up twice....I bet you anything!!

Yep, it's getting very annoying. It seems like when I do longer sentences for the first line, or maybe even a contraction or something, and then hit enter twice and make a second sentence, that's when it doubles on me.
It's very annoying because I tend to do that a lot, and then I end up with these enormous posts that no one can make any sense of.

 Yeah that!
Sometimes when I try to make a quick reply it brings up a box asking me to open or save "new reply" too.

We're still trying to resolve this issue. We are upgrading our servers tonight and hope that this will help with this problem.

It's still not working.
I'm starting to get a bit tired of having to edit almost every post I make...

Curiously - for those where it's obviously double posting the same text in the same post...
What OS are you on? XP - Vista
Is it happening on one specific computer (if you have more than one)?
I have not tried posting on the site from XP yet, but I have not had issues (though I have a very small number of posts) from Vista.
Just curious as to what the commonalities are for those with the issue.
