It also keeps logging me out & when I log back in, it takes me to the main JM page.....but as soon as I click the link to go to the boards, it logs me back out again. (all on my cell....Palm Treo smartphone).
Can you try clearing your cookies and cache. I think we have resolved the log out issue but you may need to clear your cookies/cache first. If you do that and still have issues with logging in please let me know. We are trying to get this issue resolved.

I will have to find out if we will be offering a mobile version at some point.

My biggest issue other than the size of the forum now (way too crammed IMO) is that it's off to the left and that is so straining on my eyes. Is there anyway that we can get this centered???

As someone who has to use IE at work I LOVE the new narrower forum design. Now I don't have to worry about people who don't stack their blinkies making me have to scroll over 3 forum widths to read a post (which just makes me ignore a post).

I haven't read through all the posts here.. but I'm assuming we are of the IE issue with photos right? It doesn't seem to be sizing them down so we can view them.

an example link: I am only seeing what appears to be 1/3 the photo.
http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f5...udio-pics.html

Keep in mind, I am on a work computer, and I cannot make any tweaks and changes to the system or use another browser here.

This isn't an big deal, but I noticed in the thread in the PP ( http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f5...udio-pics.html ), post #3 is wider than normal due to a long location name. I wasn't sure if it's something you'd want to know but I figured I'd post it anyway

There are some issues with IE6. I am not sure if we are going to be able to resolve all of the issues happening with IE6 but I will find out what I can.

I am not sure if this issue is completely resolved or not but we were having some log in issues. Can you try clearing your cookies and cache and see if you stay logged in.

Since there has been a lot of feedback about the forum’s width we are working on a solution to help with this. We will be creating a forum option that allows members to choose between a variable width format or a fixed width format. There will still be a column for advertisers on both options, but the variable width format will reduce the blue background so that the forum size will be wider. This may make the user experience better for those with a wider monitor. For the time being we will continue to offer the Classic version of JM until the final solution is developed. Once it is finished you will have the option of choosing the fixed width design or the variable width design.

We will also be removing the pregnancy newsletter from the TTC forums and the grief and loss forums. This was an oversight and will be fixed.

We are still working on several bugs and they may not all be fixed when we make the switch to the new site but we plan to have all the bugs worked out as quickly as possible.

Another note: The articles forum at the top is intended to be for JM articles and not for articles in general. We will be adding a description to the board and also removing the ability to post new topics so there is no confusion. What is very cool about this forum is that any time a member makes a comment on one of our articles it will be placed in the forum. If a member makes a comment to an article that is in the forum, the comment will also show up on the article.

I will be updating the announcement with known issues soon

Just to put things in perspective I went cruising the internet and pretty much every large parenting/mom site had a layout that was similar to ours.

One of the main reasons I AVOID the other parenting sites is because of this. The crammed in space with HUGE ads irritates me a lot. I have seen many other parenting sites with formats like we have now (classic) and prefer them over ones with formats like the new one. I always go to the main forum page and skip over the JM home page because I don't have any interest in the articles and such on here. It's just superfluous information to me and having it now staring me in the face will probably annoy me for quite some time.

I'm glad to see you are taking into consideration that a lot of people don't like the smaller format. It came across rather rude to me to brush off concerns/complaints as just "well you aren't used to it". It's like telling a first time mom that her worries don't matter cause she just doesn't know any better yet.

I just hope my adblock software will still work, cause I hate huge ads and avoid sites that have them.

I really like the colour scheme and the look of the site itself.

When I click the "Message Boards" link and go through to the message boards themselves, it just reverts to this colour scheme. Is that something to do with the set-up of my computer, can I fix that? Is anyone else getting that or is it just me?

if you head up to the sneak preview announcement (above the stickies), you'll see a screenshot of the little menu you'll need to access to switch to the new forums. HTH

You may need to change it under the board options to get it to stick. If you go to your User CP you will see at the very bottom of the page an option to change to JustMommies beta version there. Try switching it to beta there and saving your settings.

OK thanks. I can get it now.

I DO like the colour scheme of it. I think that works very well and is much more lively and funky.

I see what the girls mean about the ads at the side though. It would be good to have a compromise because having the 'top stories' etc links easily available is great - a little like the news stories that catch your eye on msn and sites like that.

However, it does squish the boards a LOT - I mean A LOT - and if you're reading quite a long and involved discussion that could be extremely annoying. My other concern is, what about those of us on slower internet connections? Where I'm living right now I can only get mobile broadband. I'm having issues with it as it is! When it's on a go-slow I'm thinking each page will take forever to load with all those images over at the side. That will really be a pain especially as I'm a host as well trying to keep up with my boards and what's going on at the hosts forum.

On the positive side, the 'quick reply' box seems much smoother, the "Share" feature looks fantastic and I do like the idea of easily accessed top stories and baby news. Any plans to have links to hot topics, featured forums etc equally as accessible as your sponsored links? I think those would be appreciated probably more by most people especially as it would promote their boards.

And might soften the "blow" of all the advertising, which, I fear, sadly will change the atmosphere of the boards somewhat. I can understand that you need it for various reasons, but really, so "in your face"? It's really not going to feel appropriate for some boards where there is some quite serious and meaningful discussion, yes I am thinking of the religion boards but also the grief/loss boards, ttc boards, health boards etc.

*Sigh* Patty, I know what you mean about getting used to it as well, and I will endeavour to get used to it and can see so many plusses to this change, but I do hope that if a lot of members are saying the same things they will be listened to and taken into consideration.

Technical problem: I can't actually post on my own board on the beta version. It just keeps repeatedly asking me to log in, even though I'm already logged in. Then it takes me to the homepage or to what I assume will be my profile page, and I go back to General Spirituality, and it makes me log in all over again. Can we only post on certain boards over there or is there something wrong?

I like the new color scheme overall, but I'd have changed the brown table header backgrounds to something else. I don't like how squished the forums are, but I could get used to it if I have no choice. It appears I will have that choice from what I'm reading here.

The ads are really annoying. They are big and loud. Could you consider the text Google ads instead? They are smaller which would allow for more forum size and not as loud and obnoxious to look at. Some forums also do a text ad after the first post so it does not squeeze the forum width. That might look better.

One thing I have encountered with the ads that are a problem is with the photo polls. Most photos are large enough that they push the width of the table beyond the forum background and into the blue area. Also, the ads don't move so they cover the photos a bit. I'm hoping that can change when you make the new design stretch, but it's a problem nonetheless. **NOTE*** seeing that they are more related to this site, I still would suggest you put them somewhere else to allow more room for the tables. ...or at least adjust their size.

I personally like the old better simply because it works better (for now). I like the idea of having other themes to choose from. There are a lot of different people here with different tastes, and I'm sure they'd like the option to chose a color scheme that works best for them.

Personally, I hate the ads. I avoid boards that have large ads, and hate to use adblock to block everything. It's also loading incredibly slow for me on the beta version because I have a very bad internet connection and the ads slow it way down. As for removing the pregnancy newsletter only from the loss/ttc boards, would it be possible to have it ONLY be on the DDC/playrooms? I am a member of JM dealing with several years of infertility, there are other boards I access other than the TTC boards and really would prefer not to see any more advertisements for pregnancy than I absolutely have to.

Can you try clearing your cookies and cache and logging in again. We were having some log in/log out issue and I am trying to see if this is resolved.

I had cleared my cookies & cache before I even went on it, as I said above.

I will do it again when I get home but I would have thought if I'd only just done it it would be ok.

Justmommies would not be able to sustain itself on google text ads alone.

And just so I can be clear, I'm only seeing two ads, currently the cafemom ad and then some google text ads below that. The rest are links to our sister sites or information from the main Justmommies site. Are you all seeing something else?

Rachel, I think it's the sister site links that people are calling "ads". I understand your need to have them and all. I think the objection is more to do with them being so in your face and squishing up the bit you actually want to read. To be honest, the more I look at it, the less I mind, so maybe getting used to it will help, though I do think it may shift the atmosphere a little bit.
