I always go to the main forum page and skip over the JM home page because I don't have any interest in the articles and such on here. It's just superfluous information to me and having it now staring me in the face will probably annoy me for quite some time.

I'm glad to see you are taking into consideration that a lot of people don't like the smaller format. It came across rather rude to me to brush off concerns/complaints as just "well you aren't used to it". It's like telling a first time mom that her worries don't matter cause she just doesn't know any better yet.

I just hope my adblock software will still work, cause I hate huge ads and avoid sites that have them.

ITA with this! The reason I do not go to other parenting communities is because of this squished-up narrow format many of them have. When its all ads it just doesn't seem like a warm, welcoming community where you will find friends. I have belonged to other vBulletin message boards before and I really like the Classic format. In these other boards there is always an option of different skins to use, and I really hope the Classic will still be an option because I do not care at all for the new one and I don't really think its a matter of not being used to it. I too was offended by these remarks, as I simply do not like the new format and prefer the old one, and its not something I will just "get used to" and suddenly enjoy. Thank you for coming up with a compromise.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I am having issues staying logged in on the beta version. It allows me to log in, but once I try to navigate to the message boards it logs me out and I can't post.

I personally don't see what the big deal is about the ads on the side. Actually I prefer them there than on top so I don't have to scroll past them as much. And they are ads related to the site...not just randoms so it makes sense to have them there. JMO! Also I was a tad annoyed with the width of the forums but now it looks like it has been widened so it is much better. I honestly don't see much difference between this and the classic...I think people will get used to it just like the last change when everyone hated it at first. Also I was having problems logging in and staying logged in but clearing cookies and cache did work for me.

One question though...since I was able to log in to the main site page but not the forums at first does that mean there are separate log-ins like when I sign out I would need to do it on the boards as well as the main site page?

Actually that was one of the many reasons for the update. We had several sections of the site that required more than one registration and log in. Once we get all the bugs worked out you will have one log in for everything on the site. We are working on it!

Just letting you know I can log in on beta now both at home and at work, thank goodness.

I have to say I don't mind the ads as much as I thought I would and have even spotted a couple I wouldn't mind visiting. And I do love the colours, and it is easy to use. Thanks for all your hard work.

There is something wrong with the html. The is this > at the top of the page. You don't have a bracket closed correctly or something.

I just noticed this happened to me too. And I am at work on a public computer so it kind of freaked me out! I know last time I left I logged out but when I came back (not to the main site but when you click on message boards) I am logged in still. I tried logging out again but the same thing happened.

I don't know if this has been addressed, but when I woke up to the Beta version dominate on my laptop at home, It took exactly 11 minutes for the forum to load. No problems with any other webpages.. happened in both Fire Fox and IE. I had zero problems once I switched it over to the Classic.

What's odd, is I'm not having any problems at work, but my roommate is on JM on my home computer (testing this for me) and it's taking long there too. computer is freshly clean (reformatted only 2 days ago) and I clened the history and Cache this morning. Any suggestions?

Not sure if this has been brought up...when you are on a thread and click on someone's name on their post the pop up box with the options to view profile, etc are way over to the left and you can't read all the options. I noticed it is only with people who do not have an avatar...those with an avatar are pushed over enough to see the whole pop up box.

I think this is only happening with FF and it is something we are aware of and working on.

I really like the overall look. Nice colors, cohesive, clean design. The main page of JM is very well designed.

My main issue is with the ads down the sidebar, which I know is a known issue. I practically live in my control panel... but I actually like fixed-width designs better than full-width. Perhaps the fixed width could be made wider? Most people are using 1024 width, and many are moving up to widescreens that are even wider. I really don't relish the idea of having the forum take up the entire width of the huge widescreen laptop I'm getting soon, but quite obviously the fixed width won't work.

I have an issue with the new "share" feature. Is there any way that we can make it that we have to click on it to bring it up? I keep rolling over it on my way to click quote and then I have the stupid thing in the way. And it doesn't go away easily half the time! It's driving me batty. It's as bad as the ads at the top of the page and the new roll over drop down menu!

Please don't ever get rid of it. This new design is horrible. I'm not sure who made the decision, but they clearly don't know a thing about design, coding, or the backlash that such in your face advertising receives. I could deal with the design if it weren't for the ugly ads on the right side. It's clear they were put there to get our attention, and its doing its job in that respect, but I find it offensive. I can't believe it was rolled out with so many problems as well.

As a web professional myself, please don't give me the line that I would not find it so bad if I had just become a member. If I came across this site now with this design, I'd run, because it emphasizes what the site's priorities are now - $$$$ and ads - and while I understand both are necessary to keep a site going, it can be done in a much more tactful and subtle way that still turns a profit.

On a positive note... I like that the main site is done in Drupal. I'm a big fan of Drupal, and all the possibilities it has as a CMS. I run quite a successful site myself based on this platform.

I must be blind. Can someone take a cap and PM it to me so I can see these ads? I have a completely BLANK right hand bar all my ads are piled at the top and bottome (top is center, bottom is right hand side). I'd take a cap to show you but as usual I'm at work and forget to check at home. I don't remember seeing them at home either.

I am sorry if this was already mentioned but I haven't the time to read 5 pages of complaining.

When you view a poll (or at least the one I viewed) the ads are overlapping the results. I am using IE7 on Vista.

Yes, we are aware of that issue and are working on correcting it.
