is there any way to 'save' this setting?
I mean, so that the boards i hide stay in tabs and not all re-opened everytime I move away from the page and back again?

Do you have cookies enabled on your browser? You'll need to make sure cookies are enabled for the hidden boards to stay hidden each time you visit the site.
